As you open the door, you are met with a cacophony of voices. It reeks of commoners, tables scattered haphazardly around the packed inn. People of all shapes and sizes take part in the pandemonium of gambling, gossiping, bartering, drinking, or, in one corner, a brawl. The barkeep is kept busy as he passes out mead or ale to thirsty drunks and travelers.
Rickety stairs on your left lead to the sparse room, disappearing into shadows. Smoke from torches, candles, and lamps fill the corridors and spills down the stairs, meeting with the smoke from the tavern part of the inn.

Lords Ferris and Restus entered the tavern, adjusting their black cloaks as they looked around. The two of them took a seat at a corner table, where another person was sitting. "Hello," Ferris said. "Do you--" "Come here often?" Restus finished. Ferris had a blue left eye and a scar through his milky-white right one. Restus had a black right eye and scar through his left one. The boys were nearly identical save that detail. They were both gaunt, with pale, blank faces, and their hair was snow white.

The warrior-woman looks up from her mead, sizing up the two. Upon recognizing their rank, she stands and gives a slight bow. "M' Lords. Indeed I probably would if it weren't for my rather busy standing as the Guard Dog. Though I can't say much for the quality, it is a good place to pick up information and be left alone, sirs." (I think I've already explained Hunters to you, RavenLord. It's Tasha as per usual in case you are wondering)
-
(Yep)
Restus nodded understandingly. "Yes, we--"
"Agree," Ferris added. "One can find--"
"Much information--"
"On many things." Ferris leaned forward, face remaining impassive. "May we ask--"
"Who you are, Guard Dog?" -
"Forgive me my manners, Lord. I am Tasha Hunter, the Guard Dog, Second of the Three, Slayer of the worg Grimm and Hunter-borne of Avren, sir."
-
"If I may be so bold, sirs, you are not local nobles, are you?"
-
The Lords nodder at her. "That's--"
"A fine--"
"Dog you have," Ferris finished. "When---"
"Were you--"
"Acquainted with her?" -
"No," Restus said, "We're not."
-
"Many years ago, sirs." She looks at the shepherd tenderly. "Wolfsbane has been my constant companion for six years, and she has been among the most trusted of my comrades. I raised her from a pup."
-
Ferris nodded thoughtfully. "Interesting. Does--"
"She understand the language--"
"Of humans?" -
"Oh, yes, she knows Common well. It is to her annoyance she may not speak."
Wolfsbane growls at her mistress.
"Close enough," Tasha tells her dog absentmindedly. -
Restus gazed at the dog, a flash of emotion crossing his face. "You love her." It was not a question.
-
"Yes, well, she has saved my life many times over. Her loyalty is something that most humans do not have- she is the only one I can truly trust."
Wolfsbane stands and sizes the lords up with none of the Hunter's courtesy. She walks over to them and sniffs them, deciding whether or not she thinks they are trustworthy.
"'Bane! Get back here!" Tasha snaps. -
Ferris held out a cold hand to the dog, blinking slowly.
-
Ignoring her mistress, Wolfsbane smells his hand. Finally seeming to make up her mind, she returns to Tasha and sits at her feet, watching the nobles intently. After thinking for a moment, she lays down with her head on her paws and looks away, content with their presence.
