Therapists

  1. We've all probably had one -- or gone through a few, perhaps. So talk about individuals you've had sessions with, whether you loved them, or hated them for any reason.

I've only had one therapist, and I felt like he didn't really do anything, or know what he was doing when it came to dealing with me. He was a very nice guy, but sometimes he would dismiss me, telling me he would have things for me the next session, making me feel like he couldn't think of what to say to me after I answered his questions.

Fresh out of school, really, he was. I've considered trying another, but I feel weird going back and requesting ANOTHER person, not that guy. Like they'll tell him or something. o_O

    So how about everyone else?
  2. That makes complete sense; I don't blame you.

My therapist is slightly peppy, which annoys me.

My therapist has asked on two occasions if there's something else going on. I tell her there's not but she doesn't believe me. I mean, we already had the talk about sucide, even though I've never attempted it and never will.

Last session, she did this whole imagery thing with me. I hated it. She's making me write a list of "Times I Lived in the Moment Today". :?
  3. I've had quite a few therapists and mental health doctors. So many I can't remember the order in which I saw them all... ;) The very first man I ever saw was very nice. But then he died and of course I couldn't see him any more. It's been years, lots of strange reactions, ER visits, bouts of head-banging, screaming bloody murder...that's severe Tourette's syndrome for you.. Now I'm seeing a doctor who is both a psychiatrist and a neurologist and does cognitive behavioral therapy. And I've got a regular neurologist and another pharmacologist+neurologist doctor who is working on these medications they're giving me. It's really strange. The ways the psychiatrist...let's call her Ms. R talks about things... It can be really annoying. She'll refer to the OCD I have and say "you don't want it to control you, do you?" I'll try not to roll my eyes... like, no, I don't want it to control me... We've been working on trying to like 'say no' to the urges. The OCD gives me urges to do things with my body, such as squat every few steps when I walk. It's very difficult. Extremely difficult. So Ms. R is standing by me trying to distract me from all this tension and these urges from the OCD. In my body and in my head, it's all I want to do but squat as I walk down the hall in her office. She's trying to distract me, talking to me about horses, about my writing... I've told her about the things I love. She uses that to try to help me through the trying times... when I'm trying to break free from the Tourette's, the OCD, when it is trying to make me squat. I can't just not squat...that's like trying to make something fall upwards... That's what she says she can do using her behavioral therapy methods... I'm not so well convinced. But I try. I give her my body, my effort. The rest, her precious method...flush it down the toilet. Things are not going to fall upwards. I need a little push...I don't know. I'm really depressed. I also hit myself in the head. And bang it on the floor. I keep thinking about DBS...brain surgery that has experimentally been done on severely effected Tourette's patients. One of my neurologists has mentioned it if nothing works. That's how I feel.
  4. Well, I've had a few therapists, but either I don't like them, or they request a different therapist for me. One of my previous therapists did kinda the same thing that Always's did. Which is really hard for me because I have to write in Braille and then I have to read it back since she can't read it. I get really annoyed, and recently I haven't cared about anything she says or anything in particular. Right now my family is trying to find me another therapist because we both got in this huge fight, and she now refuses to help me.

I'll make sure nobody unauthorized runs off with the chamber pot, sir.
