Positive, Negative, and Get-Through-the-Day Thoughts

4 posts in this topic.

  1. Are there any positive thoughts that help you get through the day? Negative ones? Ones that just help you get through the day?

The one I use most often is "Breathe, everything's going to be fine, just breathe,"
  2. When people say nice things to me, I fold them up and store them in the back of my mind for a bad day. For example, last week:

Boy: The snow makes you look really beautiful.

I've been using that one a lot.
  3. There's actually a few poems I've memorized that help me, which sounds silly. One of them is "Wake to Sleep" by Theodore Roethke. It has a coming effect on me, and distracts me. So when I begin to panic, I recite bits of it to myself.

My favorite line is, "This shaking keeps me steady, I should know". :)
  4. Ah, quite a few. Positive one I tell myself a lot - "If you get through this hour without hurting yourself, you can get through the next one too."

Then a negative voice screams at me "what difference is an hour going to make." *shrugs* Every time I think of something positive a thousand negatives slap me round the face with a cold hammer.

    It's not nice. :/
