  1. Have you ever read any books about your issue? What were they?

I have yet to find a book about my SA. A fiction, one I mean; I've found several non-fiction ones. Once I finish my homework, maybe I'll start on one. :)

  2. I don't think I've read fiction books specifically where they came out and said, "this character suffers from depression and anxiety" or whatnot. Just, books where it was really obvious that the characters were going through things I've gone through.

I actually can't think of any books right now, but I know I've read some -- I'll get back to this thread with some examples at a later time.
  3. Attempted sucide

    Cutting

That's all I've found so far. More to come. :)
  4. I've read a book called Perfect about a girl who threw up and had to go to counseling! I don't have much time to talk about it right now but I'll be back to explain more.
  5. Though I know rape is a theme, I found Speak a very nice book, as she undergoes a long episode of depression after the event and it was particularly interesting how no one noticed she was depressed, and it took a great long while for her to get help with her mental distress.

A great book, and movie, anywho.
  6. I've read Speak a few times; it's a good book. Rules of the Road and it's sequal, Best Foot Forward, talk about a girl who deals with the effect of an alcoholic father.
  7. I Don't Want To Be Crazy by Samantha Schutz is about panic attacks, which I sometimes have. She has panic attack disorder and I have SA(with panic attacks) so there's a link. It's a really good book, especially if you've ever had a panic attack.
  8. It could just be me, but I think Alaska in Looking for Alaska had some serious bipolar issues. Or at least horrible depression.
  9. I've never read that but I'll see if we have it in the school library. :)
  10. Jerk, California by Jonathan Friesen is an interesting book I have yet to finish. It talks about a guy with Tourette's.
  11. The Night I Disappeared

It's about a girl who has a boyfriend that she's obsessed with, except he turns out to be something very different from she thought he was....he wasn't even real!

She had a disorder called conversion disorder, in which a person responds to overwhelming emotional distress with symptoms that are physical and often disabling.

I recently found out I have conversion disorder, except instead of it effecting me cognitively, I have episodes where I can't move part or all of my body for up to three hours at a time.

I didn't, at the time, believe the book was medically accurate, except now that over a year later, I've been diagnosed with the same disorder, I realize it is a true-to-life example of a psyhiological disorder that's based in psychology...if that makes any sense.
  12. The Quiet Room.

    It's about a woman's battle with schizophrenia.
  13. The Nature of Jade.

The main character has panic disorder and gets panic attacks.
