1. Welcome, everyone! I'm alwaysawriter but you can call me Kat, always, Al, AW, or any other varation you can think of.

The purpose of this group:

This group is meant for any person that has an illness/disability/mental or physical problem. This is not a place to talk about your boyfriend problems. Unless (read spoiler):
It's related to whatever issue you have. I understand that each issue/problem brings about it's own challenges, including relationship ones.
This is a safe place for you to talk about whatever you're dealing with, without being judged, and a place to get/give support. Share your progress, bask in those small steps that make all of the difference, and accept those set-backs that may accompany it. If you can't get cured/there isn't a treatement, just think of this as a place to belong.

Why I started this group:

Since I was younger, maybe around eight, I've had social anxiety. It took me a few years to realize that the fear wasn't rational and wasn't normal but I thought I was the only one and struggeled every day with those things that everyone else did with ease. I remember envying them and accepted that this was the way I was and it was the way I'd always be. As I've gotten older, some of the anxiety has gone away and some of it has gotten worse. I've frozen in fear for no apparant reason, I've panicked just going from the stairs to my locker, and I feel trapped every time I don't have a clear way to the door during class. Thinking it was something different, I told my Mom, who scheduled therapy for me. The second session is when the therapist told me what the fear was and that she was going to help me get rid of it. I'm making progress; I had an anxiety-free day on Tuesday. I've had setbacks, though, and I know it's not going to go away right away.

I wanted a place within the awesome YWS family to share my progress and setbacks, meet others that have the same issue, etc, and I figured that other people may want one too.

A few basic rules:

1. Any rude comments and stuff like "You're stupid.", "It's all in your mind.", or "You're never going to get over this." will be edited or deleted.

2. Be polite. ^^

3. Be supportive; it takes guts to make a post or thread about something so personal.

4. Serious issues only; if you're only going to talk about our boyfriend or girlfriend problems and not anything else that's related to health, you shouldn't be here. Try one of our many Teen Groups instead.

So, introduce yourself! Tell us your name (or username/whatever you want to be called), what you're dealing with, how long you've been dealing with it, any anything else you can think of (if that scares/worries you, PM me and I'll post it without a name attached), and go ahead and start a thread about it.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. :)

2. Hey I'm really glad you made this group, Kat =] It's surprising how many people on YWS have problems like these.

I've had problems with anxiety, social anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-injury - I guess it all kind of comes together. I know quite a lot about the whole subject.
3. Ditto, this group needed to exist.
Hey everyone, I'm Mars (as of a few minutes ago, formerly kissthewitch). I've been struggling with depression and sometimes an eating disorder for quite awhile.
4. Hai, I'm Olivia. I have an eating disorder. I've struggled from depression before so Mars I could possibly help you with that.
5. Thanks for making this place. I've had a really hard time this last year... OCD, ASD's and Tourette's all at once, one after another... I already feel at home. I like being called Vox, Voxina, or KC. Kayley works just as well for me. I've been a sort of outcast for, uh, years. Ridiculed for mild tics of my Tourette's, and taunted as being weird. Then I figured out I had OCD and Asperger's, which is an autism spectrum disorder. My brother is mild-moderately autistic. My family has a history of these issues...some still undiagnosed but very much evident. I'm here to give-and get--support. I'm very much interested in these conditions, and want to raise awareness badly...but don't know how exactly I will manage going up in front of a lot of people?! That's why I write about it instead.
6. I just noticed this group! I'm so glad you created it, Al -- you're amazing!

I'm Clo! *waves frantically* I've had problems with anxiety for most of my life, as well as severe depression. I'm glad we can all come together here and support each other. =)
7. I'm Moody. I have social anxiety, depression and a few minor anger issues, which are probably all related. It's good to have a place to talk about those sort of things, most people don't really understand. :/
8. I'm glad you all decided to join the group. Don't be afraid to create a thread. :)

I know how the people not understanding is. As Albert Camus said: Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal.

I wanted to tell everyone the progress and setbacks that I've made recently. Then it occured to me that they wouldn't understand so I didn't bother.

Anyway, I'm getting off topic. Welcome, everyone! If any of you ever want to PM me about something, feel free to. :)

9. Ummm, hi. I'm Lucy. I'm blind and I have a bit of OCD. I get depressed and I have anger problems. So yeah. :)
10. Hey Lucy! *wave*
11. Uhm, I'm Hotaru-kun! People are currently calling me Jamie... but I'm not sure if it'll stick. I'm 'suffering' - I'm not sure if that's the right word? I have? I don't know.

Anyway, I'll go with I have! I have gender identity issues, and I've had that since I was very young. (Always resenting being called 'young lady', 'she', 'her', ect. ect.) As a result I've got anger issues. o.O I suffer from manic depression, and possibly bipolar disorder, but I've yet to get that sorted out. I get social anxiety, health anxiety, using public toilet anxiety! I self-harm. And I think I have OCD tendencies with my food, and toiletries.

Hi everyone! =D
12. Hi Hotaru!

The public bathroom anxiety is social anxiety. I'm the same way. I went to the bathroom three times the last school year (once because I spilled something on my shirt, once because I threw up, and once because I had a pen mark on my face and it was noticable) and two out of the three times, I dragged something with me, and only because it was unavoidable. I don't like using any other public bathrooms. People always tell me it's a stupid fear and I just shrug them off.

What do you mean by health anxiety?
13. Ah, well if there's the slightest thing wrong with me... like if I cough, my heart beat goes up, goes down, my head starts to hurt, I have a dead leg ect. ect. Really normal everyday things I kind of freak out and get worried about it and a voice in my head tells me I'm sick, I'm dying, I need urgent medical attention!

But I'm rather good at dealing with it, I just tell myself over and over again that it's okay, I'm alright, I'm not dying.

The public bathroom anxiety for me is less to do with social anxiety and more to do with my gender issues. If I go into the girls bathroom (the one my sex has assigned for me, and the one people decide I fit in) I real nauseous and ill, and like I shouldn't be there. If I go into the boys bathroom, I feel happy about using the facilities, but the men in there stare at me, which makes me even more anxious. So I avoid public toilets.

I wondered why we put villains in our stories when we have plenty of them in real life; then I realized that maybe we wanted stories where the good guy wins.
