Heh that's kind of ironic because assuming Robin Hood existed, which he didn't, he was much more of a criminal that Hitler (seeing as Hitler was in control of the legislature for pretty much the entire 1933-1945 period). I guess legality doesn't always correspond to morality, makes you think.
My favourite is Sweeney Todd, though he didn't actually exist (nor did Robin Hood, though - or certainly not the way we think of him). You don't get much cooler than slitting your customers' throats and making them into pies. Jack the Ripper is definitely a contender for most famous, and very cool with it.
I suppose Hitler was a criminal on an international level, but since he made the laws in Germany he wasn't breaking any of his own country's laws. He was a war criminal, though.
I think Jack the Ripper. I don't know, I know Hitler was super evil and so horrible in every possible way, but he wasn't really a criminal right? He obeyed HIS laws, but I don't think of him as a criminal persay. I just think he was a horrible, awful, stupid, powerful, ignorant man who freakin thinks that just because people are different that they should die and that- *rants on and on*
