    Does anyone have any interesting and lesser known facts about the French Revolution and the Hundred Year Wars? I'm doing research on these two historical events, so any info helps.

    So lately I've kinda been obsessed with with Egyptian history, and the other day I came across this awesome documentary about Queen Hefertiti , she was one of Eygpt's greatest kings! That's right she ruled as a KING!! Unfortunately so little is known about her because after her death, the priests decided that a woman was not fit to have been ruler and they attempted to erase all existence of her name from most of the ancient hieroglyphic records. Even still, talk about major girl power!!!

    Are you referring to Hatshepshut or Nefertiti? The former was widely known to rule as pharoah. Nefertiti was Akhenaten's wife, and while she may have been the mysterious "Smenkhare" that ruled before Tutenkhamun, there's not enough evidence to say either way. In any case, their legacy was erased due to their "heretic" sun cult, not because she ruled as king.

    Hatshepsut, my bad, Nefertiti and Akhenaten actually ruled as equals and after her husband's death, Nefertiti attempted to convert back to the old religion by reappointing the priests. In fact there is a mummy which some believe to be Nefertiti, and after getting permission from the egyptian government and performing many x-rays of the mummy it was discovered that the mummy was murdered. If it was Nefertiti, I believe that she was most likely murdered for her because of the whole sun cult she and Akhenaten attempted to start.

    History's the best. The subject, my teacher, and everything about it in general. You pretty much learn about everything, not just history. It's about how the world works. After all, "The thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history" :D

    America 1919 - 1939 (End of WW1 - Begining of WW2, I may have messed up the dates). I didn't think I'd enjoy it all that much because it's fairly recent history but I'm loving it so far! I like that "The thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history".

    Ahhhh that must be interesting - my friends did that time period at GCSE, and I did Germany in between the wars, instead - you know, Hitler and stuff. It was awesome though. So, you don't really like recent history? I got to admit, ancient history is way more fascinating :D And the quote is very true - our teacher said it once, and it got stuck in my mind :)

    I'm have just finished studying crime and punishment from 1450 onwards. That was fun because we got to learn about Witchcraft trials and stuff like that :D We have just started learning about the general strike in england 1926

    I want to study crime and punishment!! :D Might be of use if you want to be a lawyer, eh? And, so you may answer my question, then - I know witch trials existed, but apparently not as many of witches were actually burned - rather hanged or exiled.... Because the impression I got was that every fifth woman was considered a witch.... is that true in any way? Surely, can't be that many... just asking :D Thanks in advance, and keep learning, sounds very interesting! :)

    I only know the facts and numbrs for the Witchcraft trials in England but there were only about 3000 people legally tried for witchcraft and out of these only 400 people were actually executed. So very few people were actually killed after having a fair trail.

    I'm studying the Russian Revolution pretty much from the begging of Nicholas' rule to the death of Lenin. The French Revolution, from Necker to the beginning of Napoleon. And classical history, focusing a lot on Trajan and Augustus, I've sullied the Ara Parcis, Trajan's column, A lot of random mosaics, The Aeneid, Virgil's histories of Rome and Tacitus' Annals.

    Iztecs were unique in which they practiced human sacerfice. Training for males to become warriors was pretty rigerous and harsh. Facinating culture from the little I've delved into them.

    "What are you guys studying now?"
    Der, I somehow missed this. xD I re-enacted Battle of Plattsburgh this year as a sailor aboard the Kesteral which was afflilated with the USS Ticonderoga in 1814. I also sort of took up my role as surgeon's mate educating the public while the surgeon went aboard the "K" to fight the Brits from land. So, I plan to continue my research on early medicine and learn a bit more about the War of 1812.Recently this year in early October while I was at Fort at Number 4, I had been invited to do miltia in the French and Indian war period and a Frenchie in the same period but with a different group. Yikes... lol!

    Gotchya! Sorry I didn't understand earlier. Well, in my spare time on the weekends, I am a re-enactor, who mostly does the American Revolution as a British soldier. I've been doing the hobby for four years now. Battle of Plattsburgh took place in Plattsburgh, NY Sept. 10-11th this year. The encampment had British and American sailors such as myself, the artillery (cannons being shot over Lake Champlain) and a mix of American and British infantry firing from land. I've established myself now as now as a regular face and my love for history (and knowledge I suppose) drew interest to veterans of the re-enacting hobby who decided to re-created the crew of the U.S.S. Ticonderoga and I was invited to be their new recruit. In addition, I've also expressed strong interest in the past with learning early medicine and surgical procedures, which was why I the 'surgeon' allowed me to take over while he went aboard to fight in a battle. I stayed behind to look after the dieing victim, er, um, I mean patient! :) I hope I answered your questions? If not, don't hesitate to ask again.

    It's been years since I studied history. I don't like studying history, but I do enjoy reading a lot of history. Although, with uni, my time is somewhat cut. The last thing I studies was probably the Indian freedom movement and partitioning of Pakistan and the legacy of the British left behind.
