   Hi~
   So, I've discovered this love poetry fairly recently, but I enjoy big projects. I like the way everything seems to come together and what not. I would like to try my hand at an anthology, but I have no idea how to get started. Should I have a theme? Do the poems have to be connected?
   If any of you have advice or resources that could help me, I'd appreciate it.

   Anthologies are typically put together either because they want to gather up poems, so that being said, the reason you want to gather up poems is going to directly relate to what poems you grab, if they have a theme, a variety, or even an order. Take, for instance, Billy Collins' anthologies, they were written for schools to read one poem a day, or 180 days. That being said, he made a wide variety of poems and a lot of different themes, but they had the common thread of accessibility.
   
   Likewise, some books are made to introduce kids to poetry, and those typically have sections of different types of poems, like poems about clouds, winter, summer, trees, etc. There are even anthologies that just collect loved poems, or poems from every generation.
   
   All this being said, you really get to pick what you want to use as your reason for gathering an anthology before you start picking poems. It could be as simple as poems you like. <3 Good luck.
