  1. Hi there Avian, it’s been a while!! I’d like to say that your poems are lovely and I love how you included all the letters from everyone and to everyone, it was a wonderful reminder that we are often so hard on ourselves when others think we’re angels. Have a good day!
  2. how do i make a poem sound like a whisper (7/6/24)

    youd think it was the pitter-pattering of rain / the serenity of an october morning / id whisper to skull how wrong you are / because really it was a secret muttered behind the cover of smoke / a confession / dark eyes glittering with depravity / the silence speaks in decibels / i can hear the windows cracking
  3. I love this poem!! It really sounds like a whisper, specially when you use imagery like "pitter-pattering of the rain" and "serenity of an october morning" And this line is absolutely gorgeous "secret muttered behind the cover of smoke"
  4. dirt under my nails (10/2/24)

    there’s dirt under my nails
    and I pick and pick and pick and pick and—
    there is still dirt under my nails;
    ***
    I clasp my hands together and press them
    to my forehead, raising my irises to the heavens
    and praying for something other than
    the desolate space my mind occupies—
    where my body will forever reside and where
    there is dirt under my nails;
    ***
    the blood drips to the floor—
    my palms bleed,
    please hold my hands,
    please take this desperation from me,
    can’t anyone see that I am trying and trying and
    there is still dirt under my nails;
    ***
    breathe, please,
    I cannot live here forever.
    the dirt cannot linger, but—

    ***
    there is still dirt under my nails.

Just because you don't feel like a hero in your own story, doesn't mean you're not a hero in someone else's.
