    Rhythm (03/09/24)

Do you think someone could harmonize
    with my circadian rhythm?
I’d much rather they just turn the gears in my brain,
give me a crown so I can rewind time,
alter my brain to make it
a working clock instead of a
    b
    r
    o
    k
    e
    n
    o n e.
And as someone paints violets under my eyes
and puts weights on my lashes,
I still glance at the time with a smile.
“I’ll go to bed in five minutes.”
but someone steals my precious seconds,
maybe the same entity that runs brushes along
my face and eyes, a portrait of few smiles
    and even fewer rested nights.
A cycle of late and later,
    Spinning vision,
Hands that go around around around
    Tick tick tick tick tick
    Tick
    Tock
    Tick
    Tock
    Tick
    Tick
    Tick
  6. Spoiler
this is so tragic. the formating didn't work on that last poem. I shed a tear
  7. Wooooww this is amazing Wings!(May I call you Wings)?
I loveee the first entry and it’s a bit sad but it’s almost giving off nostalgia maybe because we all feel this at times whether it’s all memories and people we miss or times we miss! All in all, great work for someone writing a masterpiece at 2am!
  8. yayyyy new poem drop

    do you think (3/11/24)
    do you think...
    do you think
do you ever think that i could be loved
    (idiot, you already are.)
    i'm talking romance
i'm talking holding hands and walking along the beach
i'm talking a kiss on the cheek before i leave
i'm talking hold me hold me hold me until i can't breathe.
(what a joke. i can never breathe.)
but oh what a silly dream
    i don't need romance
i've got a family who loves me
friends who say hi and hello
the big guy up in the sky who kisses my eyes goodnight.
(they've all got romance, though. well... almost all of them.)
did you ever think that i could be loved?
ah, 'cuz no one else did
not when they joked that he liked me
not when they make jokes that i'm unloved
not when they called me a lesbo.
(i'm actually straight, despite popular belief. even my family has thought it)
    and haha ain't it funny
    a straight blonde
    in a straight blonde world
    and still no romance
    i'm not even the lead
i'm not even the happy-go-lucky sidekick
    with a nice little romance
the MC can be jealous of.
    (i'd be jealous too)
nah, my life isn't a story
    it's reality
it's one i'd really like some romantic love in.
(but don't worry. i've got my whole life to life. but i say that every year)
  9. Also, @Coffeewriter thank you so much! It's great to see you be so encouraging on everyone's forums! :D And yes, you may call me Wings!
  10. Thank you Wings! :)
I love the second poem I can relate too much

    *sadness*
  11. I wrote this one a while back, but I actually kind of like it now, so I’m posting it here :D

    Oxytocin (2/27/24)
There's a chemical imbalance in my brain
    of never enough
    not enough
    never there.
They call it the cuddle hormone
but words of those are foreign to my skin,
the only things that live here are
    too small to see,
    living, breathing
    holding my breath,
holding on to such small instances of
    warmth.
I wonder why my hands are always cold
but I think of the last time someone's held them
and the only thing that bubbles up
is blood from chewing my nails.
    and my friends wonder why
I always ask for a handshake
but how else am I supposed to
    let myself be held?
    touch can't be casual
    can't be friendly
can't be often enough to allow
    this repressed language to speak.
how it hurts to find out
    no one understands this language
    I yearn to sing,
    not even me.
  12. Awee that’s so sweet and sad to read. Wonderful imagination!!
  13. Love these <33
  14. I remember you writing this poem in the writers block pad, still amazed with this poem, it's so beautiful!! <3
  15. Dear Dad,

Today I wanted to hold your hand and it reminded me
of when I was little and you seemed so big.
Surely you must have been the tallest man in the world.
And I think in some ways you are.

Have I ever told you how big you are in my life?
    I hope so.

    - Your daughter.

    ***

    Dear Sister,

We weren't always there for each other,
and I know we both know that.
But I'm glad we're here now so that I get
    to watch your wings flourish.

p.s. I hope to fly someday, too.

    - Your sister

    ***

    Dear Mom,

You like to tell yourself that you've been a bad parent.
That you haven't done your job.
But I'll have you know that you'll always be the
    perfect mom for me.

    Always.

    - Your daughter.

    ***

    Dear Brother,

We don't know each other well and I'm sorry for that.
I'll say hi to you sometimes and you won't respond.
every once in a while I get to see a new side of you,
    but it's only a glimpse.

I hope you know that I love you anyway.

    - Your sister.

    ***

    Dear Family,

No, we are not fucked up.
    We are made of love.
We are filled with broken glass and budding flowers.
    We are a family.

    We have never been lost.

    - The youngest.
