ideas for islamic short stories

2 posts in this topic.

  1. Aoa everyone!
I wanted to do something fun this ramadan so I decided to write short stories with islamic morals and themes. But so far, I'm short on ideas. There's this one idea. A love story inspired by Hazrat Muhammad and Hazrat Ayesha. But I'm not sure of a plot.
Please help if you've got any ideas.
  2. Hi Isbah!

If you want to write a love story, you can follow the basic elements of the romance genre like the meeting, attraction, obstacle, and eventual get together. You may have to tweak some elements or conventions to fit the Islamic morals and themes, but these are basic enough that you can do anything with them.

It also depends on the themes of the story itself. Does the story take place in an Islamic majority country or place where its the cultural norms? Or are your Muslim characters the minority in a non-Islamic setting? Then, your story may focus on social commentary: internal or external conflicts about religion. It's also good opportunity to teach the audience (if most are not Muslims) about romance in Islam.

There are so many things you can do for an Islamic love story. I know none of these are specific, but I think it's a good starting point in how you want to shape the story. You should also know that dating or courting customs are different in every culture that practices Islam, so think about your characters' cultural backgrounds too.

I would love to read your stories if you decide to publish them on YWS! I hope my advice helps!
