Hello there c:
I hope to be writing some poems, at least one a day, and maybe a theme? >>> Who knows, we'll see!

Daily Challenge 1 - Rhyme!
it's getting clearer now
that no matter what i say
i can't be the bearer for
the consequences,
and it's the best of us
who can step onto the
stage and trust in the
process, & mend fences
that we let burn down.
Note: This has a slant/central rhyme, with clearer/bearer, consequences/fences, and best/trust. ^*^ -
Daily Challenge 1 - Messenger Bag!
my parents and i had been talking about getting
a new backpack a while back, and one day they
came back from costco, with something in their
hands: a really nice quality messenger bag, sturdy,
made from leather -- and i never thought i would
be so overwhelmed by holding that bag, thinking
how it was pure leather, even though i've never
been vegan or even vegetarian, and i still have
meat, probably at least a meal a day, yet there's
something trickling in the back of my mind, and
i'm going over all of the movies i've watched
about animal slaughter and horrible places for
these poor creatures to survive in, (and i think
i would like to not eat meat once i'm at college)
and that determined i didn't want the leather bag;
instead, we looked online for a cheaper, lighter
messenger over-the-shoulder-kind-of-luggage,
and i came across this cute, hot pink flower
decorations splashed on top, and i said, "yes."
and we smiled, both inward and outward,
while i tried not to overthink my new values.
Note: the challenge was to pick something that my left arm first reached, and it was a messenger bag with flowers on it. Also, I tried throwing in some different kinds of punctuation. *^* -
Daily Challenge 3 - Daylight Savings Time
the trick with turning the clocks forward
is that with every minute you
spend on your phone or laptop
that night is actually wasted
because then there is
less time for
sleep and
goodnight.
Note: there also was a challenge to have one less word per line, which I did, and this was definitely done in less than fifteen minutes, haha. <: -
Daily Challenge 4 - Double Meaning
pests
constant buzz and noise
swooping through the air
striking terror in these walls
bugs
Note: flies are terrifying, especially when they lay eggs in your trash can and you have a bunch of maggots crawling on the first floor of your home. N-not like that's ever happened to me, ha ha ha, ;__;;;;;; -
Daily Challenge 5 - Place
it wouldn't be fair to start a poem
without thinking of where i'm from
this place is more than the sunlight-filled days
impressed and shipped to every commercial
on the television,
which make me groan since those ads don't
show the times that the once crisp river sky
threw up all over our pot-holed,
uneven streets, and left me to trip in the dips.
but i can describe the marvel of spotting
a perfect sunset hanging,
a faded snapshot
of rose-tipped cumulus clouds whispering
a secret that the beauty around me isn't solely
picturesque that you can lose your mind in
a quick breath,
or a car ride up a silver-crested coast that
brings bubbles trickling through memories
needing just one
more second to enjoy the fresh air,
one more second to forget myself.
Note: this is kind of about my hometown? kind of about getting frustrated over how people think this place is, and how it really, also inspired by a conversation I had with a girl who lived in the mid-west before moving here. -
Daily Challenge 6 - Terza Rima
there's a trickling in the back of my mind
that although i really should not be
worried about admissions i still wind
my fingers together before i click to see
the results of applying to colleges, yet
with every check, sipping at a cup of tea,
i still cannot do anything now but sweat,
thinking over if the wait has a meaning
or if it's another way to add to this debt
i hold from doubting myself and leaning
towards these decrepit emotions that
are only for me, and made by a careening
student falling further into a spiral splat
across a blurry laptop screen i can't read
and ends with me sleeping on a mat.
Note: this was hastily written at the end of the night, but it was a fun challenge ^^ did not do the bonus words. -
Daily Challenge 7 - editing
two cups of tea rest on the
aged dark-bourbon table
a short breath leaves her
pale, thin lips, and you want
to reach out to grab her
hand, to squeeze her
fingers tightly within your
grasp and pretend that
this deadly cycle will
end with the rollercoaster
declaring this girl, this
dear friend to your heart,
through your years,
the winner of life, for
just a little longer.
Note: this is a sort-of rewrite of a poem that I published on here worth of words and I wrote this in a slightly different style, with one block of text instead of stanzas. <>
