  1. Week 1

    Cold snow,
    Everywhere to go.

    Revolutions,
    Revelations.

    New year,
    new fears.

Past that there is much cheer.
  2. Week 2

    I want to be angry,
I hear the wailing all night long.

    But even I get hungry,
So I sing the child a song.

And later when it stirs again,
    my tempers all but gone.
  3. All caught up, now this week. (Probably not necessary but it makes me feel better.)

    Week 3

    You son.
    Stand in line.

    I'm not done.
    So I stand sublime.

    My country.
    My flag.

    If you seek entry.
    Hear it brag.

    Young people enlisted.
    We aren't vultures.

    There is a lot invested.
    We just have different cultures.

The army is for the brave.
    To travel far away.

    Maybe to their graves.
To keep the foe at bay.

    So you.
    Will do.

    We need you.
    To subdue.
  4. Week one of Napo :

S cattered like a snow flurry.
    P eircing like a thought.
O bsurd as a new idea.
R obust as a black licorice.
    A ttitude with a flare.
    D ysfunctional to an extent.
    I solated if you dare.
    C entered on being different.
  5. week 2 of Napo

When you feel the taste ever so sweet
of the lovely match you may meet
And the fire of their love burns its
    smell into your jacketed soul
    and you can't breathe
    because if you did
    you would hear
    the wild flowers.
  6. I don't even know what week it is anymore but a pem on being late.

    "She Had the Last Laugh"

    Time just isn't my thing
you say be there at three
    I say I'll try
    but don't wait on me
    because boi time's
    just not my thing.
I just have to clean the house.
I just have to feed all of the
    little animals around my home.
Oh wait, is that a squirrel?
I wonder if he has a home?
    And its six o clock....
    Whoops...

You say turn it in at
    eight o' clock friday afternoon.
I say okay, but it's Monday and
I have to help my brother. And
okay, but it's Tuesday and I need
to clean my fish tank because I
love my three goldfish more than
life itself. And it is wednesday and
gawd I need a nap, was there
something I needed to do? And it's
Thursday and I'm well rested and wait,
I have a whole week of work! It's Friday
I work hard, and I'm not done until nine.

Hey, I have a job, it starts at ten.
Hey, I better get ready, oop it's
eleven now! The phone is ringing, I
have to catch it before I'm late!
"Oh no there isn't a fire, wait
oh, I'm fired. Okay have a
    nice day, toodles."

And I know one day I will die. And
I want everyone to have a laugh before I go.
So please make sure I'm the last one to show!
I want to be late to my funeral!
On my tombstone engrave it in green,
    'She had the last laugh."

  8. twozerotwozero

    have you ever spelled sigh- 's'- 'i'- 'g'- 'h'
it kinda feels nice just to spell it out without haste
and did you ever have a cry
and feel your feet in cementing paste
and just wonder why two zero one two...
  9. Serendipity?

    the clock stops
and the air turns to mud
    clear as day.
    over my white tablecloth
    seconds from disaster
are stains never to be cleaned. they
hover like water in a space shuttle
    astronauts would see, lingering
awaiting it’s turn to make a move.
    knives point downward
    towards the table’s cloth skin
    and wooden bones
but the onomatopoeia of the fall
    stands with the filled pitcher
    hung precariously by gravity.
just a poem verse away from shattering
and the doves can't even fly away.
the air under the sparrows wing
    is concrete.
if you try to catch the apple
then you too will be encased
    trapped like an ancient mosquito
    in amber.
the amber of a still horizon
    and a clearly complicated past...
what was happening when god hit
    the pause button
    on this havoc?
    and what will play out
    when we see the rest
    of the scene?
    curiosity left the cat
    stranded in a wormhole
    where all the Still Life’s
    look normal in comparison
    to life in motion
    and the calm serenity is
switched for something a little more
    as the tilted apple and
    the pear’s shadow
    watch us and wonder why
    we are moving.
    when we have the chance
to stop and watch how the world turns
    without us.
  10. Great poeming, Gem! Love these images: "the table’s cloth skin
and wooden bones" "the filled pitcher hung precariously by gravity." They're very unique and also work together to create that mood of suspense, maybe a bit of dread.
  11. Thank you <3

  13. Hiya @queenshadowgem! Your schoolwork poem was an interesting read- I like how you used the mathematical symbols to create a staccato rhythm. I think math generally gets a bad rep, especially among poets, and it seems to be portrayed negatively in this poem, but I do like that the symbols here seem to add meaning, especially in stanza #2 where the '=' sign acts as a "so" or "thus".

I wonder what's the significance of the "cassettes" and "radio" in the end? I thought those images stood out, since there wasn't a reference to music in the first stanza. It makes me think of listening to music while doing homework, and maybe the idea that cassettes are "better" than radio conveys some kind of nostalgia for a simpler past?

I also liked the sound devices in the first stanza - the repetition of the soud "-ess" in words like "distress" "mess" and "stressed".

    Great work!
  14. time outran me in my last shelter
the sunlight hit and i felt it swelter
    happiness emerged temporary
    and ashen sadness drowned itself
in the nectar of a new form
im not as lost in this new storm
    mingling with the moss and
    strayed from a cross painted
in the blood of the ones ive lost
an alter to a past i wish i could
forget i drink the tea and it
    replaces what i once loved
i thought i knew everything but
i found i had to discover who i was
