    #canyouhearusnow (pride)
I have had many moments where I have struggled with pride. A few of them were struggles with myself and struggles with others. My father is very religious and at the time I had been dating a girl named Rachel. He found my phone and looked through our messages, which caused him to get angry. He started yelling at me and saying that I was going to hell-that it wasn’t normal for one girl to like another. I somehow ended up calming him down and assured him that it wasn’t what it looked like and I think that was when I realized that I wouldn’t be able to be myself with my family. Later on my transgender sister, Quinn, wore a dress to my dad’s house and he flipped out on her as well and ended up ripping the dress and pushing her into the pool. Quinn left and my dad disowned her. Here recently though, my school has started becoming less accepting of the lgbtq+ community and has begun handing out detentions, write ups, and oss to kids wearing pride accessories. We, the students, are going to take a stand and have a peaceful protest this month. EVeryday gets harder and harder when it comes to being able to be who you are and many have stumbled into suicidal thoughts and depression. Nobody can force us to be somebody we aren’t. We can’t hide who we are and if they can’t handle it then they can just leave. There are so many problems around the world but discrimination is one of the biggest for teens everywhere, they get bullied and left out because of who they love, but does it really matter? Does it matter if she is straight, if he is gay, if they are trans or pan or asexual or anything else? We just need to see the truth; We are all human. We all talk, and breath. We eat and sleep. We feel. We are the same no matter what anyone has to say and all that matters is that you have friends and family to help you through the rough times and have the freedom to be yourself.

oh no. it's tears of happiness for all that has happened

So, please, oh please, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away, and in its place you can install a lovely bookcase on the wall.
