What's the Plan (Version 3)

8 posts in this topic.

  1. These ideas are coming along great! Things to do this week;

    - Scribble up a first draft of the contest advert, rules, e.c.t
    - Round up some volunteers for the review coupons
    - Consider plausibility of a (formal or informal) workshop
    - Keep brainstorming Q&A question ideas (and poke mods to put their list together)

Secret haunt is still a possible thing.
Also, making a thread for people to post their favourite/oldest YWS memories.
  2. I can make wall posts and check in review clubs for the volunteers for review coupons, and I will try writing an article about a quick sum up of what's going on for Squills so we can have more members join and possibly more volunteers for coupons.

Should I make a thread in the forums for claiming to be a volunteer for the coupons?
  3. Go for it! =D
  4. @TheWeirdoFromBeyond You're awesome! (Also if you make a thread I'll help spread the word about it) :D

I'm more than happy to advertise on my wall and assist however I can in that regard. I really like the idea of a workshop to go with the collab contest, although my timezone rarely matches up with the majority of others on YWS, so it might be inconvenient for me to help run it (even though I'd like to). If we decide to go with the workshop I could possibly contribute to planning what it includes after I get back on the 3rd, since I have some modest collaborative writing experience with storybooks and WFP. If anyone has worked on a Double-Trouble Writing Huddle project before that would be even better experience!

What would be the best way to draft up the contest advert etc., or would only one person be in charge of those tasks?
  5. In terms of drafting up the contest, the easiest way would probably be WFP and then put a link in here, then we can dip in and edit as we go.

I can't say much for the workshop because I don't have the experience or the hours to put into it, but if someone else does and wants to take it on then you are most than welcome to!

I can try to be around to help host depending on the day, but I have another minor op on the 15th so it will depend on how much work I can get before then and how spaced out the pain meds make me XD
  6. Workshop advertising is mostly throwing together a poster or fancy post that includes the name of the workshop, date using the date code, and an intriguing description. Then make a thread that goes into a better description of the plan. Spread that thread to sign up around with the poster advertisement everywhere they don't mind which has minor interest and link it to the thread either in the lounge[most traffic] or the specific sub thread [a more directly interested audience].

Plan about half an hour for any activity and at least an hour to complete the workshop. Usually there is a free for all at the end.

I hope that helps get you a better picture of workshops. To plan one use a WFP and set up what text you will introduce, do some research if you need to and save it in there, and then copy whatever activities you have planned into the workshops wfp when appropriate. It is common practice to have a warm up question.
  7. Oh and PM Squillsbot any advertisements you want in squills
  8. @Aley
Shoo, you're not allowed in here! ;) Though you are dearly loved none the less.

I don't have much knowledge about marsupials.
