Yes, another small one: write at least one more sentence by the end of next week! (That's the 1st of July.) I reckon I got this!

-
Wow, yeah! Here I came along to encourage you but you seem like you're pretty on top of your goals!
Also WOW DANG I FEEL THISNow I have two options:
1) Work out something that the alleged MC is trying to do, rather than having her sit there and take events passively like she currently does
2) Rejig the whole thing so that one of the other characters is the MC
Not about the Chosen Grandma, but about my other novel that I really want to resurrect at some point, but...we'll see how it goes. It needs a total overhaul and I'm well-aware. -
@BlueAfrica - encouragement still very much appreciated! I'm a little downhearted about how small I'm having to make the goals sometimes in order to make it at all likely that I'll reach them (but I am reaching them! and that feels good!).
I wrote almost 200 words of Magic Words this evening. Go me!
New goal: I'm going away this weekend, so I'd like to write a little more on the train. (Either train - the way out or the way home are both equally acceptable.) -
500 words on the train up! I'd like to try for some more on the way home on Sunday, but I forgot the charger, so that might not happen.
-
I did 500 words on Saturday, and another 500 on Sunday. Apparently sitting outside in the evening when it's just about reached a sensible temperature is a nice writing place, so:
Goal: write another 500 words this evening. -
I have been unexpectedly smashing all of the goals I didn't bother to post here! 500+ words every night for a week - 1000+ on two of those! (Thanks, WFP folk!)
I'm not at home as much for the couple of weeks coming up, but I'm hoping to keep this momentum anyway. So:
* if I end up coming home at a sensible time this evening, a non-zero number of words
* 500 words on Friday
* a non-zero number of words when my friend is over for mutual creative motivation on Sunday
Let's see how that goes... -
Also, a bit of good news regarding this dilemma:
Now I have two options:
1) Work out something that the alleged MC is trying to do, rather than having her sit there and take events passively like she currently does
2) Rejig the whole thing so that one of the other characters is the MC
At 10k into the novel, I have discovered that I'm much more interested in writing one of the other characters anyway, AND yesterday I had a brainwave about how to make it work with him as the focus. So, yay! -
I'm not doing LMS, but for fun and procrastination, I thought I'd see what my wordcounts look like for each week that LMS has been going on...
Week 1: 1503
Week 2: 6101
Week 3: 4387
Week 4: 1009
Week 5: 951
Week 6: 0 (oops)
Goals
My overall goal is still the same as it's always been - I want to get to a point where I can call Draft 2 of Magic Words "finished", regardless of how much sense it makes narratively. I'm probably going to use the NaNo target of 50k, just because it's a neat number that I don't have to think too hard about.
Today's small goal is: write anything at all! I've got nothing on today except doing the washing and the washing up, so I ought to be able to get something out. -
NEW GOAL: cross 20k today! It's only 600 words away, I can so do this.
-
Recently, I have been doing Couch to 80K, as a low-pressure way of getting in a good writing habit and feeling better about writing in general. I've been getting up a little early in the morning to listen to a 20min podcast, of which 10min are some kind of focused writing.
Tomorrow is the last day of the course D:
So, here's a new goal: going forward, I would like to keep up this habit: get up slightly early, and write for ten minutes, no matter what about. Even just writing "bored bored bored" for ten minutes counts, although it probably won't be very fulfilling.
(It's okay to do ten minutes writing at another time of day if, for whatever reason, I can't get it done in the morning. It's also okay to have a day off every so often, but I'd like to aim for no more than 1 day off in 7, which is the same as Couch to 80K's structure.)
