I answered super interesting by @Omni and my question was ianswered by @Snoink :D
  5. Main Character
Okay, so our main character! Allow me to introduce you to (or rather to write myself a few chaotic notes about) Joe M.!
I know that I should rather focus on inner values and not physical appearance, but these traits are also very strongly intertwined with Joe's relationship with others. Although he will never admit it out loud, he is annoyed that he looks absolutely different from any of his family, as many people then make the classic "like you were adopted, dude" joke, which is not a joke to him, since his dad, grandma and a few other family members the members mentioned in the story are not really his biological family. And while it's not a problem for him (he was adopted as a toddler), since he never cared twice about his biological parents, he finds it annoying. His physical features also include his eyes, which have a lot to do with his relationship with his abilities.
No, I won't write down what exactly it is about because that will just get me tangled up in explaining the entire magic system (which I probably can't avoid since I love talking about wordlbuilding), but in short: night vision. That's all we know so far from the first part of the book. A small note: I don't mean cool by night vision, I see everything like in action movies where the main character is given those strange glasses with A) green or B) strange glasses that make them see like during the day because movie logic I guess? NO. Rather, it is in the sense of night vision that cats have: in absolute darkness it is useless to you. He can see in dim or normal darkness, but not like in daylight. Also, another important thing: insomnia! Joe is liittle inspired by one of my insomniatic friends and I wanted to bring this part of who he is into story.
And now to properties and intrinsic values and these things. Let's face it: Joe is one sarcastic little jerk. He's the type of protagonist who will do the right thing because it's right, but he'll complain. Whole. The. Damn. Time.
And about the motivation: during the story, his main motivation is to fix what went wrong and find his place in the strange world he fell into. He is still not sure how he fits into it, but it is clear to him that he belongs there. Also he finally finds some friends! Meets his future adoptive-sister! Makes some snarky crows really angry! Helps his best friend comit arson! (By accident.)
  6. Side Characters (Not all of them)

Ruby - Future fan favorite. At the beginning of the story, she is Joe's only friend (and best one, since the two are a chaotic friendship duo). She is a super loyal person, always on the side of the people she likes and an adrenaline junkie. Seriously. That girl lives for adventure and stupid/brilliant ideas. She is also a pyrokinetic. Bad combo with her personality. Future fan favorite by my guess.
Fun facts: She loves superhero comics and films (this girl is a hardcore Marvel stan).

Marl[b] - I'm not even sure why I decided to talk about him, since he appears in the story only at the beginning and at the end, but I think his character is interesting. Marl is an old ex-fisherman who still holds a comical grudge against Joe's cool grandma Mon. He is one of the few people who knows how to sail to Seagull Island, which proves that he really is an excellent and experienced sailor - but that does not change the fact that during the first book we see him mainly as a grumpy old man. He has a dog! Her name is Danny and he is always super nice to her. They both like fishes.

    [b]Patrick
    - Messy collector who is also Joe's dad! Although he travels a lot and sometimes feels like he's not always as focused as he should be, he does his best to be there for Joe whenever he's needed. (P.S. Patrick may sometimes feel like he's not a very good father, but Joe and Viv will quickly confirm that he's the best). He cooks the best mashed potatoes with cheese sprinkles. He is the author of many dad jokes. If you don't have a good father, Patrick can be his replacement from now on!
  7. Wow, I really failed in BBC coding.
  8. Inspiring Music
Alright, so, I listen to my writing supermix while writing. It´s on Spotify and feel free to try it! It always motivates me and helps me focus, so here is Spotify link: <iframe style="border-radius:12px" src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/playlist/25cfgfiame8knHVrNZS4Tb?utm_source=generator" width="100%" height="352" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" allow="autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture" loading="lazy"></iframe>
  9. Yep, I did not worked so here is link: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/25cfg ... ZuXU2VpVzg
  10. Most Challenging Character

Oh, this one is no-brainer. Viv will be...hard to write. Probably it is becose of her pretty complicated backstory which will need SO MUCH of research. Also her personality will be intersting to write and I cannot wait to see her dynamics with other characters. She is a wildcard of this story. She just does what she chooses to do. I am so excited to writing parts of story with her, becose WOW! That is going to be awesome.
  11. Character Questionare

    Name: Wels Arlion

    Pronouns: she/her

Age: ??? No one is 100% sure, but Joe´s guess was around 19

    Spoiler
    spoiler zone starts here!
Height: Smol in flashbacks. Not tall in canon era.

    Eye colour: brown

    Hair colour: black

Physical appearance: Wels is short and slim. She has an oval face with a crooked nose (supposed to have been broken). She has straight hair about shoulder length (in pre-canon flashbacks she had it about shoulder length in a messy cut, but she obviously let it grow out). Sometimes she wears silver glasses.

Unique physical attributes: scar near left ear, circles under eyes from not enought of sleep

Favourite clothing style/outfit: Black. Everything he owns is most likely black, dark gray or dark purple. She likes sweaters and men's pants. And coats. Ideally the dramatic ones in which he looks like emo Master Quiffrey from The Witch Hat Atelier.

Favourite shoes/footwear: Dr. Martens. This is my legacy, after all.

Defining gestures/movements: Impatient foot tapping, even though she's not impatient. She often scratches his scar, even though it has long since healed. Shee gestures less than most people when she speaks.

Speaking style: She always expresses herself very academically, usually keeping a calm tone (although she goes to irritated faster than she'd like) and has an accent - sharp R, T and D.

Things about their appearance they would most like to change: She still doesn´t fully accept the scar. Too many memories, I would say.

Physical health: Ehhh...She has a rather strong and unhealthy-sounding cough, indicating that she often exerts her magical powers.

    Hobbies/interests: research, reading, cliffdiving

Special skills/abilities: She is the only person known to be able to read the innate potential of magical abilities

    Quirks/eccentricities: Humming strange songs,

Things that upset them: She hates it when people underestimate her knowledge and judgment. She is also irritated by meaningless (in her opinion) questions. And when people forget that her abilities have a limit somewhere completely different from the others. In fact, she can be very easily frustrated by anything related to her abilities, opinions or health.

Any pets? Black cat. Her name is Caliopé.

Other people's opinions of this character:

Favourite bands/songs/types of music: classic for when she needs to remind herself that she is allowed to sometimes feel like she was better and more important than anyone else (because she is). From human music, she likes AC/DC.

Favourite movies/TV shows: Step by Step. Do not ask.

Favourite books: Brief History of Time, Hawking

    Favourite foods: Dark chocolate.

If a song played every time this character walked into a room, what song would it be? His Dark Materials main theme for season 2

Favorite ice cream flavor: This girl is a chocolate ice-cream stan
  12. 1. What does the setting of your novel look like in the fall? Does it even have seasons?
Whole book takes place in autumn :D. It starts on island in Atlantic sea, so misty weather and ocean too cold for swimming. And one of main parallel universes in this project has eternal autumn.

    2. If your main character existed on Earth in a place that celebrates Halloween, what would they do? (Ex: go trick-or-treating, give out candy, hide in the house with the lights off...)
Huh. I guess Joe would have carve some pumkins. And Ruby definitely loves movie marathons.

    3. How do each of your side characters feel about horror movies?
Ruby loves them. Joe probably likes them fir as long as they aren't psychological and he does not have to watch them alone. Mir would loudly comment every dump choice character make. Vivis laughts anytime someone dies.

But answer me this: how can a story end happily if there is no love?
