Obviously Barry's the star, and I'm sure I don't need to tell you how COMPLETELY AWESOME they manage to make what is one of the less impressive superpowers really hecking useful thanks to science.
But what other metahumans are your favorites, either in ability or personality? Is it an obvious major player, like Cisco or Caitlin? Or did you love a particular one-episode villain?

Eobard Thawne for me. The dude is savage. He's altered the timeline, he's forcing Barry to live a different life than what the original flash lived (where Barry's mom was alive. A timeline we have never seen). He can create a speed mirage unlike any speedster. He can't even die because if he dies the timeline will shatter.
Due to the fact that he murdered Barry's mom, I don't 'like' him, but the dude is the coolest speedster in the show. -
Off the top of my head, I'm thinking Jessie Quick. She's everything I like about the Flash in female form, but she's also her own person. Also I like the times where she gets confused by celebrities who are actually politicians and stuff in her world. ("Senator Knowles?" she asks when she's watching a report about Beyonce.
)
Lately the one-episode villains have been a little dry. I felt for a while like with both Flash and Supergirl, they settled into a routine of one cool, new meta/alien villain per episode, but then the writers focused more on the series-wide story arcs than making memorable villains. Sometimes, in the Flash, they bring back metas I'd totally forgotten about because they were so meh. -
I'm a big fan of Gypsy, now that I've gotten that far. As a person, she's an interesting balance of law and mercy ("these are the rules" vs "I guess this is actually the right thing to do"), friend and enemy. Plus she can do things that I didn't even know Cisco's powers were capable of until we met her.
Plus they're really cute together.
@AllisontheWriter I forgot about the "Senator Knowles" thing, which I definitely did like (really anything that's different between the worlds, times, etc), but I generally feel like Jessie's main personality is "angry at Dad."
NOT THAT HE DOESN'T DESERVE IT, because all the anger she's really ever had toward him is 100% justified. I was impressed when Wally told her to go back to her own earth and spend time with Harry because he was sick, and she was immediately like, "Is THAT what he told you?" and went and called Harry out on it - I never would've guessed he was lying, but wow, what emotional manipulation that was. She was right to be mad.
But beyond her anger about her dad and her feelings for Wally, I feel like she doesn't have a ton of personality. That could be because when we see her we're first focused on "crap, I'm Zoom's captive" and then "grr, angry at my dad" and then "cool, powers" and then "<3 Wally" but we don't get to see her on her earth or for long periods of time or anything. She's got to be one of the least-developed main females in the show.
Definitely agree with you on some of the one-shot villains. I adored the musical episode, but Darren Criss seemed to just be playing Darren Criss from glee - his character's motivation made basically zero sense and just seemed like a quick way for the writers to resolve the romantic issues on both shows at once. -

UGH I have just about blocked the whole musical episode from my memory. It was stupid stupid stupid.... I'd stopped watching Supergirl altogether long before the episode (and I was somewhat disappointed they didn't find a way to get Arthur Darvill from Legends in on the singing) but I am not surprised in the least that Kara ended up with that weird alien guy. -
I LOVE THE MUSICAL EPISODE. I mean, the writing on it was dumb, like it was definitely not as well done as musical episodes of other nonmusical shows where the writers discover the cast can sing. I'm 98% sure what happened was something like this.
writer 1: Man, I don't know how we're going to resolve this problem between Barry and Iris.
writer 2: I know what you mean, I'm having trouble figuring out how to fix things between Kara and her guy.
writer 1: I wish we wrote musicals instead of TV shows.
writer 2: Yeah, everything's so much easier in musicals.
writer 1: The characters tell each other everything they need to. Plus they get to sing.
writer 2: Plus they learn to believe in love again, thereby solving all their problems.

That's literally how it came across, like they did it as a musical just to fix the characters' romantic troubles, but I loved it anyway because I love any musical episode of any nonmusical show.
And also Galavant, which is 100% musical and basically the greatest.
@DrFeelGood As far as villains go, Eobard Thawne was definitely the best! I think part of it was that we got to see him as a real person, and we got to care about him as we knew him as Dr. Wells, but then also, as you say, he was totally savage and really wreaked the most havoc in Barry's life. Most of the metas they face are a lot more "evil for the sake of being evil," even the ones who are a season's main antagonist.
Plus sometimes...like, remember when Zoom was like, "RACE ME, BARRY, SO I WILL KNOW WHO IS TRULY THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE." I just *facepalm* like, we already KNOW you are, dude, you KNOW Barry had to go back in time to get Thawne-Wells to help him get faster exactly because he wasn't fast enough to beat you, so what even is this.
