    I haven't written much in forever ;-;

    But I finally did some planning today, so here goes:

    Spoiler
    Kyre's mom heard from a friend that the Government would be conducting these tests, and she gave Kyre very thorough instructions on what to do. Elena (7-8) is normal enough and she does not have unusual results. Kyre is 10 at this time. He follows his mother's instructions word-for-word, and he pretty much bombs the exams. His unusually low score prompts investigation from the Government, and after questioning, they find out his mother put him up to this. Thinking that she would be a negative, dangerous influence on her kids, they offer his mother an ultimatum: Either go Below with Kyre and Elena, or be Numbed and send Kyre and Elena to someone else's place. She knows what would happen if she went Below, so she chooses the second option.

    I'm deciding to not focus so much on word count, so I'll just try to write everyday, even if it's just a little, and keep this thing going. I might bring the word count back later, but I get too much schoolwork to really focus on it now.

    update: oh shoot that wasn't all of it sorry

    Spoiler
    The underground rebels did not agree with current practices, so they took over the highest, most powerful people in the government, one person at a time, through a mind-altering serum that takes away free will.

    Most of the common people do not need to be put through this treatment, as they will listen and obey anyway. However there are some people who are resistant to the Numbing. These people are more independent, more emotionally attached to most things, extremely intelligent and creative, able to be stronger and faster than most, and overall pose a very strong threat to the new Government. Through a series of rigorous tests, these people are picked out from the majority.

    The tests test math/science, physical prowess, speed in answering questions, how they feel about the Government, and creative problem-solving skills. Those who score over a certain amount are sent underground, Below, where they are to be slowly "phased out" over the course of five years.
    Ashe is here. She was sent here at age 9. She does not know the whereabouts of here parents.

That smells like the inside of a tropical rainforest.
