Then books - titled The Edicts - were also found, containing details of procedures that could be used on these Fragments. Each procedure was different from the other, and none of them seemed particularly scientific. There are thousands of books, scattered around the globe.
When these instructions were followed, the people who performed them Bonded themselves to the Fragments. They were granted magical abilities that lasted for the rest of their life, like their Bond. Only if they died, their Fragment could be Bonded to someone else. Some of these people choose to use their powers for public good; others direct it towards personal gain. The world was chaotic for a time, and remains so to an extent.
Nations started trying to gather Fragments and the Bonded. Vigilantes took justice into their own hands. Criminal lords rose to terrifying power. The world is shaken.
But there happens to be one particular corporate, which is trying to monopolize Fragments and kills the Bonded to acquire theirs. It is called Horizon. With the powers it employs, Horizon now controls most of Eurasia (indirectly.) Horizon's agenda is to establish world peace and a single global superunion of nations; but whether they care about people or power remains to be seen. Currently, they are after a man who Bonded himself to the strongest Fragment of all; he goes by the name Doomsday. His Fragment, the Singularity, is a pendant shaped to look like a model of an atom. It gives him the power to release colossally strong bursts of heat equal to the force of a nuclear bomb once in six hours.
His motives are completely unknown, but Doomsday wiped out eight cities. Nobody knows why. Various groups around the world are trying to find him. Some want to use him; others want to kill him.
You are someone who cares about the current situation. You aren't going to sit back and watch it roll out.
But what you choose to do is your choice.
THE RULES AND FURTHER INFORMATION:
Spoiler
1. Your character can be Bonded or not. The choice is yours. You can also have multiple characters.
2. An individual can only be Bonded once in their lifetime, to one Fragment; after all, the Bond can only be broken by death. that means you get to pick exactly one ability per character.
3. The Bonded are superhumans; they heal relatively quickly and are physically much stronger and faster than average humans. Physical attributes among the Bonded vary, though. Some tend to be more adept than others.
4. Your Fragment has to be something that can be carried. Don't make it a chair or lunchbox, though XD
5. In fights, don't make your character OP. Let them take a few hits at least. Give them some kind of weakness.
6. Don't control other people's characters.
7. Have fun!
