Lore Update#1 - Who is Twinkiel?

1 post in this topic.

  1. Hello, whoever still exists in this realm! And welcome to this first edition of my lore/explanation related topics! First one, as sent in the update message: Who the heck is this Twinkiel guy I’mma use to revive this place?

    I. Character Overview

♦Let’s start with the actual character. So, Twinkiel’s a Pokémon – a Flaaffy, to be precise. He’s looks just like one (image right here:
    Spoiler
    Image
), except that he’s got this thing called the Voltek Fleece. It’s a blue fleece with golden stripes that grants him a Magnet Rise effect for one turn every time he uses an Electric move – AKA he can fly for a few seconds every time he zaps somebody, and it can stack the more people he zaps. As far as appearance goes, that’s about it.

♦Now, what’s cool about this is that it’s a big contrast with the personality he has. See, Twinkiel is… Well, I’ll use one of his quotes to properly show what I mean.

“I am cruel to my enemies and enjoy their tiniest of sufferings.
I am mild to my allies and enjoy their smallest of smiles.
I am a mad strategist with no pity.
I am a reckless fighter thrilled by the thought of combat.
I am a dramatic jester and an attentive listener.
I provoke laughter as much as I create pain.
I am an angel and a demon.
I am a Pokémon with the depraved soul of a human being.
I fight for the peace of the world, yet I like to see it suffer.
That, Mewtwo, is the definition of my being. I am a devilish lamb.
And my name... is Twinkiel Thunderfleece!”

↑ That is pretty much the definition of Twinkiel’s character. He looks cute, he can be cute, but he isn’t. Twinkiel cares only about his ally, but most of all, he wants to have fun – because that is literally the only thing left that can still belong to him. He was kinda eccentric to begin with, but becoming a powerful Pokémon made that worse. He’s aware of it, but he won’t change it. ‘Cause y’know. Fun.

♦Now, for his powers! As a Flaaffy, Twinkiel’s blessed with a pretty diverse movepool. He can shoot a variety of energy beams, relies on the Cotton Guard to keep himself safe from physical hits (Cotton Guard being the single most powerful Defence boosting move in the Pokémon world), and then uses his electricity to fight at long-to-mid-range.

♦Because of his versatility though, he tends to come in up close to perform stuff like his signature move: Enel Impact. Now, Enel Impact is an alternate version of Thunderbolt. Dude walks up to you and released his electricity directly into your body, so yeah, pretty brutal. He has many variations of Enel moves, and it started becoming a hobby of his to come up with variations of all times – kind of an anime character. He can use Enel moves for rapid fire, close range attacks, long distance traps, etc.
Then, he relies heavily on Electric Terrain to upgrade his electric powers, since it doubles their power.

♦He also uses my NPCs as allies during battle, such as Plasmya the Gengar, who usually hides in his shadow and comes out when he needs to, and Moskito the Joltik, who performs combos of electric moves with him.

The point is, Twinkiel is a strategic fighter. He usually starts with preparing the field (Cotton Guard buff + Electric Terrain placement), then relies on overwhelming offense to deal with foes, but the sheer amount of possibilities he has tends to be used to test his opponents’ styles, lock ‘em in his pace, lure them in a trap then finish them off with an Enel Impact if possible. Twinkiel is dangerous, because he’s very hard to predict.

    II. Origin

♦Twinkiel originated from a Nuzlocke I was doing with a friend. Twinkiel was the name of a female Mareep – yup, Twinkiel was a girl, at first! – that carried her team at the beginning of Fire Red Omega, a hack of Fire Red with all 386 first Pokémon available everywhere. She helped the team defeat Brock, then evolved, and started kicking some major butts – she was even nicknamed Captain Twinkiel.

♦Things were going fine for my little Captain Twinkiel, until her fateful meeting with a Solrock in Mt.Moon. She was one attack away from defeating it, but it used a Rock Throw that was a critical hit, aaaand she died. It’s a Nuzlocke, so yeah, I was forced to release her. Then, I tried to continue one with the rest of the team, but they literally all died after I fought and lost to my rival.
    ...The end.

    III. Creation

♦As you can imagine, I was super upset at the loss of both my Captain Twinkiel, and then the rest of the team, since it meant Game Over for me.

♦Refusing to go to sleep on such a sour note that night, I decided to clear my head on YWS’ SB section, and saw a new one about Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. I was familiar with the series, so I subscribed to it, wondered which Pokémon I’d choose for my character, and…
...Then I laughed, realizing that the choice was obvious. And so, Twinkiel was reborn as Twinkiel Thunderfleece – this time, as a male, for some reason.

    IV. Evolution.

♦Twinkiel is, essentially, a fantasy, exaggerated version of myself – and he still kind of is. But he evolved into so much more, over the years – I gave him shards of his own personality, growing number of quotes, his own theme (Area 11’s "Go! Fighting Action Power"), and of course, his own style. The main references of his style are of Ener/Enel from One Piece (one of the most powerful electric users in fiction, look him up, you’ll see why), Akuma/Gouki from Street Fighter, and Benimaru from King of Fighter. And then, well, a bit of Megaman for Twinkiel’s tendency to fight with various beams, and at mid-range.

♦He’s currently developing an alternate form, Dynamo Twinkiel, which further increases his electric powers, and his Voltek Fleece is just a natural part of him, by now. I just always liked the idea of a cape that’s actually very useful in battle, kinda like Batman’s.

    V. What now?

♦The main issue I had with Twinkiel, is that I personally think he’s growing too fast. As in, I always make sure I set up new things he learns, and new challenges he faces, but because of his creativity and ability as both a strategist as a fighter, I felt like he’d be basically unstoppable upon evolving into an Ampharos – which is why I decided to throw in a plot point that’ll prevent that, at least for a very long time. I call it Project: Trozei, and you’ll see what it’s about eventually.

♦Then, I want to develop Twinkiel’s relationship with Hoopa, the Djinn Pokémon of mischief. they’re both essentially amoral and are starting to love each other to death for that reason, and there’s really something I wanna do about it. Like, they’re not lovers or anything, that’s not how they see it in their insanity, but again: you’ll see what this’ll be about eventually.

♦Some time this year, I actually found a lost copy of the original Captain Twinkiel’s save file. Before she died. So, I decided to restart the Nuzlocke, and I. WILL. Complete it.
...Although, Twinkiel has died 3 times in it already, and I restart every time this happens, since I consider it a game over. But don’t worry! I’ll succeed, eventually.

♦Finally, I want Twinkiel to spread. He’s become very very important to me, and I’ve started using his style for several other characters to see what I could add to it. Not only have I succeeded, I realized that I could even make him a legendary character, something for me to identify to, and I find that really cool. This is why I’m working on the Thunderfleece collection of tales. What’s great about this character is that he’s kinda like a cartoon hero turned wrong, so he does seriously dark stuff that you might stop paying attention too because he looks fluffy. I just find that there’s a lot to do with this contrast, and I wanna keep it around.

Soooo there you go! That’s Twinkiel Thunderfleece. You can follow his adventures along other Pokémon if you read the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: 17 Plates of Arceus Storybook, which I’ll provide the link for right here:
Pokemon MysteryDungeon: The Seventeen Plates of Arceus (Twinkiel appears starting on Page 3). If you decide to read it, enjoy! If not, that’s fine, too.

Catch y’all on the flip side! This Shell Master’s signing out.
