Maia Silvertongue is the princess of Fairyland. She lives in the lap of luxury, has a wardrobe to die for and is a skilled swordfighter.
And yet, her life is so boring...
One sunny day, she's kidnapped by Loki, the Norse god of mischief (who happens to be fourteen years old) and taken up to Asgard. There, they are attacked by a mysterious demon who says his king is looking for Maia.
    Creepy or what?
Maia and Loki escape to a forest in the Witchlands, where they kill the demon with help from Maia's necklace, which seems to have some strange power. They team up with Charlie and Alfie, twin wizards, and Peridot, the snooty daughter of a lord, to find out what this demon king wants.

On top of all that, Maia's getting visions from her supposedly dead mother, too...…
  2. A story about mythology? I'm in. So why did Loki kidnap Maia in the first place? Was it because he's just as bored as he is?
  3. Partly, but mostly because he was lonely. The other gods mainly look down on him, and he wanted a friend.
  4. Poor Loki, then! Does Loki have any other buddies, or is Maia one of his first one?
  5. Well, there's his twin sister, Hel. (I know she's his daughter really but I wanted to make Loki into a teenager so I thought brother and sister was better.) They're quite good friends, but she's usually in Helheim overseeing the dead.
  6. That makes sense! So what's Helheim like in your story? Does Loki visit there a lot, seeing that his sister hangs out there? Also, does Maia get to go there at some point in the story?
  7. The plot sounds cool, and I'm definitely into mythology, so, my questions are-

Why is Maia friends with Loki even though she was kidnapped by him? Is it because she thought her life was boring and was glad that Loki made her life adventurous? Or does something else also contribute to this?

Maia goes to Asgard, where many other Gods also lived. I'm guessing they weren't all in with a mortal living among them. We already know they looked down at Loki, who is a God. How do the other immortals react to her then? In fact, why don't the Gods just don't kick her out?

My last question, for now, is what about Maia's family and friends? Did they search for her when she went missing? Does she miss them? If not, why?
  8. I'm going to dive straight to the heart of the story and ask why this demon king is interested in Maia in the first place. Does he want something from her?
  9. @Saen Loki visits sometimes, but doesn't really enjoy it - he finds it too depressing. Maia doesn't go there in this book, but she will in later ones.

@TheWeirdoFromBeyond: At first, Maia hates Loki (understandably) but after they're attacked by the demon they become friends. She finds him cool and is grateful to him for helping her.
Maia was only on Asgard for about fifteen minutes - if she had stayed for longer then yes, they would have probably kicked her out, but they didn't really have enough time to register she was there.
Her family is complicated. She misses her sister, Eve, a lot, but is glad to get away from her despicable Aunt Lou. Her relationship with her father is also complicated, as they used to be really close but after her mother died(or maybe not died.... we'll have to wait and see)he became distant and horrible to her. So, she can pretty much do without seeing the two of them. Eve would have been going frantic, trying to find her, but I don't think Lou would have searched for her, or at least not tried that hard. Her main concern would be her public image.

@DarkPandemonium this is a difficult question to answer without spoiling the story, but I'll do my best. Maia has a unique gift which I can't say more about, and he thinks she could be an asset to him.
  10. If I'm okay with spoilers... would you wanna share what special gift Maia has??? I'm really curious lol
  11. I'll enspoiler it for people who want to read the novel
    Spoiler
She was born at the stroke of midnight, which gives her dark mage powers.
  12. Ooooh that's really cool! So...
    Spoiler
What's dark mage powers? Is it like... magic? How rare is this power? Is she the only person that has it? Is there any other kind of magic or power similar to this in their world??? LOL I LOVE ASKING about powers and stuff
  13. Spoiler
It's pretty rare, there's only about three every thirteen years. She can basically control pure chaos energy. Her power is amplified because of her magic necklace, which allows her to control the elements.
  14. Ooooo that's awesome! So how many people know about her special gift then? Does her family know?
  15. That sounds so cool!

    Spoiler
Are dark mage powers frowned upon? And are there any negative consequences to using them, since dark magic usually implies that there's some sort of cost to a person's soul/morals if they use them?
