   For those new to the show and returning fans just wanting to talk about the beginning of this franchise, let's talk! What are your thoughts about Volume 1?

   Personally, I was never really a fan of Volume 1. I didn't start watching the show when it first came out (actually, I think I watched the first few episodes but dropped it) until I heard some people fangirling over Volume 2. I was more of a fan of the trailers than the actual first volume. 6 minute episodes and you had to wait a week in between? That just sucks. Both Jaune's arc here and Blake's were disappointments and I think hurt them both in the Volumes to come because neither had another good arc until Volume 3/4 at least. Blake's being a faunus was a surprise, but not really one that garnered any reaction from me, because I wasn't invested in the characters yet. I think it should have been something kept as a secret for awhile. Like, Blake has these people who trust her and think she trusts them and then, BAM, bombshell she didn't let them in on her biggest secret ever.
   
   As for Jaune's arc, it was just dumb. It wasted three episodes(?) of a really short volume on stupid high school drama. It was childish for the characters, show, and the writers, to include that in, and really slowed the show down. I think that was when I stopped watching it honestly.
   
   Things I liked: the fighting! Yes, the fighting was truly something special and I loved every minute of it. I still don't think any part of RWBY has given me the same feeling as the end of initiation with the song going and RWBY standing over the cliff and GAH IT WAS AMAZING.
   
   Looking back on Volume 1 really makes me appreciate what the later Volumes do right (even 4 and 5). Volume 1 was not great. It had great moments, but it was a lackluster volume that felt too short to introduce a series. The ending of Volume 1 was a poorly done cliffhanger and an end to a poorly done arc, and I imagine it left new fans indecisive as to whether or not they would come back. But, what are your thoughts?
