The Plot Bunny Complaint Desk

  1. Or, The "Why Did This Happen to Me?" Corner.

I know we all get plot bunnies. Dear goodness, I get a ton, and it's so hard to ignore them when they come up and nip you on the ear and scream pay attention to me! So while they may never end up full-fledged ideas, their name seems apt: They just multiply and multiply and multiply in the back of your head until you're too tempted to set down your current project or two.

I was hit by something like twelve plot bunnies when I was trying to lay down the framework for my LMS. Each one I got, I tried to change the plot, only to find that it was lacking a certain something.

Maybe I'll tell y'all more about my woes in a bit -- are you having any trouble with plot bunnies lately? Any you'd like to drop off in this thread and just forget about? (Or maybe you'd prefer to drop them off at Plot Bunny Adoption, I hear that place is pretty sweet.) Have any interesting ones, great ones, horrible ones?
  2. Is this like, plot things that went weird? I've had a few of those...

My MC is just ridiculous around my villain. That wasn't meant to happen - I thought she'd be stronger. Now I have the problem of adapting the plot to help her powerlessness make sense.
  3. Plot bunnies are more ideas -- they're like dust bunnies in the writing part of your brain. Little ideas that spring up and multiply until they're distracting you from the project you're trying to write.

For example, I was trying to work on planning my LMS today, but I ended up planning an idea based on a futuristic dysfunctional society (not a dystopia, because it doesn't masquerade as a utopia). All because of something my Earth Science teacher said about climate change, go figure.
  4. I read a lot of Harry Potter fanfics. Too many, in fact. However, every time I read one, it adds to this big idea and suddenly I'm bouncing around wanting to write something similar to that fic.

So uh, last night I stayed up late reading a what if fic. What if Harry and Neville were both killed by Voldemort as babies. And my mind has been spinning with Harry Potter, wizarding revolutions, and the magical and muggle world mashing together.

It won't go away, but I don't want to write it. I have too many projects, but it's such a good idea.

It will probably be another side project.
  5. I've had an idea for a crime novel that's been spinning around my head for a couple of years now, but have no idea how to actually write the thing! I've made a couple of attempts, and they've all been pretty iffy, and not like the edgy, dark, complex story it is in my head XD. I still hope to write it some day, because I really do like the idea, but at the moment the plot and characters are just sitting in a corner of my brain gathering dust.
