What is Sims: The YWS Edition?
Sims: The YWS Edition is a club which has been organized with the purpose of creating families and friendships that will last across the site. It is based on the foundation of creating a family, like in the computer game Sims, for a short amount of time and allowing the YWSers to freely interact.
Every month, new families are organized and allowed to choose their own family name, create friendships, family trees, and give reviews and other gifts to each other. Every YWSers that wants to praticipate in a given month must fill out an application for that month. Find applications by looking for the thread with next month's name. Family members might chose to be active one month, and not the next, and that's totally okay! That's why this is a monthly thing.
Please, only sign up when you know you're going to be able to actively contribute to your family.
The goal of Sims: The YWS Edition is to bring YWSers that would not typically engage with one another to help each other grow as writers and to encourage each other as friends, and to hopefully build lasting friendships while growing as writers at the same time.

How do I sign up?
You sign up each month by filling out the monthly application. There will be a thread titled the name of next month when you can start signing up. You must fill an application out each month to be grouped into a new family. If you do not fill it out, you will be considered inactive in the community. Sign up starts the last weekend of every month.
What is the deadline for signing up?
The deadline for signing up is the first of every month, or before the list comes out. Any applications received after that are considered void.
How are the families decided?
The staff are technically the players of Sims, in this case, so they create the families through their own whims and fancy. Some say that they decide by what is filled out on the questions, trying to make groups of strangers, others believe that it is a random pull, but we know there is a secret statistical equation with the average speed of sign up with ceilings of numbers of certain people and a bunch of technical stuff.

How long does each session last?
Each session lasts a month.
What is my family? How do I know who's in my family with me?
Your family are the people you were put into a group with. You will know who's in your family in two ways. Every monthly application thread will get updated with a final list of all the families, and those subscribed to the club will be notified through a Newsletter that the list is up, and your thread will also have a list in the first post of who is in your family as well.
Can we name our family?
Yes! Just contact a staff member to change the name of your thread to whatever you chose and we'll do so. Until then, your family's name will be Family One, Family Two, etc etc.
Who is staff for this club?

Where does my family live?
Each family is given a thread within the club forums of their own for chatting, delivering gifts and just general fun things.
Why is my family's thread deleted after the month is up?
We like to keep our club's forum as clean as possible, so the staff comes through once a month to clear out old family threads to make way for new ones. Usually this is a sign of the mythic hand that be starting the process of creating new families, so if you signed up for next month, this is when you should get super excited about new people.
What do families do during the month?
They review, gift and get to know each other. There will also be suggested weekly activities, or Family Function Activities which can be [url=*link]found here[/url] to help break the ice if the family wants to participate.
What can be a gift and what can't?
Anything you wish can be a gift! Gifts are mostly reviews for your family members, but they also can be poetry, art or anything else you can think of.

In other words, just about anything can be considered a gift you can give your family as long as it's YWS appropriate. Use the thread freely to get to know your new companions.
What if my family wants to stay together after the month is over?
If your family wishes to stay together the following month, you must contact a member of the staff before the month you are in is up. Otherwise, your family topic may be deleted and your family removed.
Can I be in more than one family?
The only way you can coexist in two families is if you've maintained a family from a previous month. Signing up twice in a single month could end up in a potential disaster in the complex equation, so it is frowned upon by the hand that be.
However, there is nothing stopping you from taking your family out of the club and having more than one family that way.

What if I decide that I don't actually want to participate next month?
Each month, you have to reapply, thus, if you chose not to participate next month, just don't sign up! If you need to bow out at any time, just do so in your family thread.
