Have a question?
This is where you can come to ask and find an answer!
If you have any questions about reviewing, posting, adopting, dropping off, or anything else, you can ask it here.
A few quick answers that you may be looking for,
How many novels can I adopt?
As long as you are comfortable keeping up with the pace of the novels that you have adopted, you can adopt as many as you like.
What do I do if I can't keep reviewing a novel?
If you cannot keep up with a novel you adopted, please feel free to put the information about the novel back up in the Novels to Adopt forum so that authors know it has less than two reviewers. If it is still on the current page of the forum, you do not need to put up the information again, just put a note that you cannot keep reviewing it.
Why are we doing this?
Aside from a deep love for novels and getting quality reviews by following and understanding a plot in novels we read on YWS, we are doing this to earn goodies!
Once you get through an entire novel, and the novel is at its end, you can post a link to the novel in one of our forums declaring your success! We can then come by your wall and shower you with success-gifts like gifts, donations, and praise.
What if my novelist stops updating their novel?
If your novelist seems to be sagging behind, you can either gently encourage them through private messages and begging, or you can adopt another novel. If the novel picks back up again, you can always keep reviewing it.

This is really nice, idea about organising something simmilar was on my mind for a few weeks back by now, but I guess I was too hesitant to make a move. So I'm really glad this happened!

I have a question!
Is there a rule to how many chapters a novel must have posted before it can be put up for adoption? Like, must it be at least chapter 5 or 50 that's now alone in the GR, or can we put up novels which only have one or two chapters so far, but still not many reviews or no one to follow them properly? -
We can put up any novel on YWS for adoption. This includes novels that have already been completed.
If you are reviewing it just to review and get the points, you can even take on dead novels that never made it to the finish line. However, if the novel is never finished, we can never review the entire thing, which makes it a bit hard to award and celebrate with someone when they have reviewed the entire thing.
Of course, sometimes all a writer needs is a good review to get them interested in the story again, so all hope is not lost with novels that seem to be lagging. It is up to us as reviewers and fellow writers to determine where we want to put our effort, but nothing is excluded from the pool of novels we can adopt. -
Hey Aley. Lovin' what you're doing here!
This isn't really a question, more of a suggestion. In the Adoption Papers thread, maybe an optional short description field could benefit people who put their own novel (or someone who's adopting someone else's, if they know the story well.) -
Just wondering, can we adopt novels that haven't been put up for adoption? Or do they have to have been put forward in order to count?
I LOVE what your doing with this
Novels deserve more love. -
@Silverlock you can always put the novel for adoption yourself, and ask the author about it. I think somebody else has already done it. The whole idea is helping novels get the reviews, but it would be good to keep it connected to the group, so there is activity that keeps it alive!
I mean, nothing stops you from reviewing something not posted here, but the bonus is, if you post the link to what you want it might draw in additional reviewer or two.
And at the end, you would be able to brag all around here if you finish an adopted chi...wait, novel.
So uhm, my suggestion is to put it for the adoption yourself... but I guess it doesn't really matter that much!

You're totally right Alchy!
I'll go round up some chi-novels XD -
I'm still just really confused at this whole thing.
So adopting a novel means you review each chapter, correct? And you post the link to the chapter you want to review in Adoption Papers? And the Adoption List is the list of novels you can review?
XD -
The Adoption List is a list for people to put up novels that you can pick from to review. You don't have to review ALL of them, and you should just pick as many novels as you can handle and review those specific ones all the way through
When you pick a novel that you want to review, [not just a chapter], then you post the novel up in Adoption Papers. It then begins your challenge to review from start to finish. -
All right, thank you

I think that my question that needs to be asked it:
Why did this awesome club die out? -
Because I am a failure T_T That's why! I'm a failure.
