Random Act of Kindness Challenge: Week 1

11 posts in this topic.

  1. RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS CHALLENGE: WEEK 1

    The Plan
So, hopefully, if things go well, from this week on one of the club officers or myself will post a random act of kindness challenge every week! If you complete the challenge, come back to the topic and write about what you did. Some of the challenges will be directly related to YWS, others won't. If this works well enough, the topics will move to the actual forum.

    The Reward
The biggest reward when completing a random act of kindness, is the satisfaction of spreading a smile and helping someone out. However, in addition, if over 10 people complete the challenge in a given week, we can vote on who's RAK was the most impressive, (based on the descriptions in this topic). The winner will receive a small point donation from the Random Acts of Kindness account.

    This Week's Challenge

Write a friendly poem about someone you don't usually talk to and give it to them. Post the poem in this topic, and mention anything else you want to.

The challenge must be completed and posted by Sunday July 20th, before the next challenge is posted.

If you have suggestions for a challenge, PM the Random Acts of Kindness Account. Also, feel free to donate points to the RAK account that can be used for these challenges or for other RAKs!
  2. I would. Alas, I can't poetry.
  3. Does it have to be someone on this site? I wrote one for a girl I had a few classes with. I'd hardly ever talked to her, but she was always so sweet and positive. She passed her yearbook around, and I wrote her a poem in her yearbook and she started crying in the middle of class because she liked it so much. I'd love to share that one.
  4. @dominusatramentum
The poem doesn't have to be good, I'm sure someone will appreciate anything you write!

    @rhiasofia
It doesn't have to be someone on this site! A random act of kindness is a random act of kindness, and you should totally share that! However, the point of the challenge is to do it this week, so maybe you ca do another! (assuming that didn't happen today)
  5. I'll give it a shot, I guess. But what I mean is that in school, it took me months to write a little villanelle, no joke. I have 0 inspiration.
  6. No problem, I'll write another.
  7. In fact, its probably best that the poem is not for someone on YWS, because then they'll no why you did it. Its much awesomer if they think its completely random!
  8. Olivia

    Light of life
    sweet girl, you’ve brought
    countless joys,
    split faces into upward curling
    pearly crescent arcs with
    your ever-present smile.
    Strong, you lead on-
    constant encouragement, courageously
    faithful till the last.
You make me wonder, make me
    think and ponder
make me want to believe in
    something
and so I thank you for the moments
    however brief”
  9. Its too bad this didn't go as well as planned. I didn't even get a chance to do this one as I was away all of last week. I think @rhiasofia deserves a huge applaud for her awesome poem and RAK! I'll be posting another RAK of the week later today. Hopefully this week it will get more attention! I know I'll be doing it this time around!
  10. *sigh* I tried. But alas, as it is with all poetry I try to write, I have no inspiration.
  11. Oh! I have to pay more attention to this club now that we're doing ~*~challenges~*~. I'll try to participate in the next one! o3o

You'd be astonished at the intimate stories, hidden struggles, and heartfelt dreams that people are willing to reveal if only they find someone who'll truly listen.
