  1. Ask Away!

You an write any genre, but it must be a single project,(poetry and short-story-series are not included).

You can write for any age range, but must let me know beforehand if you want to make it 16+ so I can pair you with the right reviewer.

The word limit is 800>2000 words per piece.

You can post more than one piece per week, but these will all count as one week. Your wisely Sage will only be obliged to review one piece.

It must be a new project. You can plan it in the weeks beforehand but you can't start writing until the contest begins.

You can, of course, continue posting any existing projects you're working on, they won't affect the contest at all.

To be a wisely Sage you don't have to be a contestant, but you will need to have some time spare each week to review.

When you sign up for either role I'll send you a message asking what you like to review/ what you write, and then pair you up with your Sage/ Wary Wanderer.
  2. I have a few questions <u>'' (Sorry for the length <u>''')

    1) Does sketching count as writing? <u> Like, if the answer was yes to question 1, am I allowed to, like, sketch a basic design for the character and such before the start date? :3 Or perhaps can I only sketch after the start date? X3 And if I'm allowed to sketch, do I hand those in too? :3

    2) What quality do our pieces have to be? Is handing in ruff-drafts acceptable, or only polished works? :3

    3) What do we do if we write a scene/chapter that happens later on in the story? I tend to do this often, (it helps me get a feel of the characters, ya know? X3) and I'm not sure if I would have to hand it in as well, mentioning that it happens later, or perhaps leave it for when it happens but mention I wrote it and when the week comes for me to hand it in I still write more, but hand in both pieces then? :3

    4) What should we do if say we write out a piece and hand it in, but a few weeks later want to go back and change something that happened in a scene to make the story fit better (or something like that <u>'')? Would we be allowed to, or would what we handed in be final? ':3

    5) What do we do if we write things like Character Sheets/Timelines/ect.? Do we hand those in too, do we keep them for ourselves, or are they just not allowed at all? <u>
  3. 1) Sure, you're allowed to sketch or plan or doodle as much as you want, you don't have to hand that stuff in (although if you want to, it'd be really cool to see!)

    3) If you want to write something for later then I'd suggest scribbling it down and use it as a reference or as part of your plan. You'd still have to do your weekly chapter as well.

    4) As long as you hit you target then you can go back and edit as you like. You can't, however, take a previous piece of writing and move it forward to count towards your current target.

    5) Character sheets, timelines, all that stuff is allowed and you can do with it as you wish.

    2) Quality. Good question.

Since people write at different abilities I won't be judging the quality- however if your work is riddled with spelling errors and half-finished sentences then I might make a less-than-subtle 'how to use a spellchecker' tutorial and dedicate it to you ;]

Don't forget that you have your own personal reviewer, so you're more likely to get the most out of that opportunity if you tidy it up yourself first.
  4. Thank you for replying so quickly! XD

Sorry for being annoying, but just to be sure: I can sketch now before the start date, right? <u>'' *Would like to sketch out her main character, but doesn't want to disqualify her story by mistake <u>''*

(And of course I'd like to hand in any sketches I do XD (Except for the bad ones, ofcourse <u>''))

Oh, a thought just came to me. . .

Where do we hand in our pieces for the week? <u>'' Do we PM them to you, or do we post them on the site? <u>''' *Just curious <u>'*
  5. You can sketch as much as you want since that doesn't count as writing. And you post via the Publishing Centre.
  6. Ok, Thank you! XD *Gets Started OuO*
  7. What happens if, say you have two or three people at the end... and one finishes their novel?
  8. Good question..
  9. Very good question. I had to think on this one. The contest is 'the last man standing,' so you'd have to carry on writing still in order to stay in the contest.

Apart from that it would depend. Someone finishing the novel in week five would be a different circumstance to someone finishing on week thirty, so it's a bridge that we'll have to cross when we come to it.

As a note for future reference, if anyone finds that they're coming pretty close to the end of their novel then let me know a week or so before and we can figure something out.
  10. A good question I think is where do we post the finished products? On a forum or our portfolio?

    Either is fine with me.

Is getting critique before submitting permitted? Or is it restricted to what I can do on my own in a week?
  11. This won't effect me directly because I'm a sage, but I think it might help some of the other participants. If you finish your chapter before the week is over, are you allowed to get a head start on next weeks chapter?
  12. No head starts. You can carry on writing and post more up, but that will still count towards this weeks deadline.
  13. Aka. What's written in the week, stays in the week. :)
  14. Question: Can I post one part of 2000 words in one week and leave the next part for the next week? Of the same chapter?
  15. Sure! My chapters tend to be about 8k so I'll be doing them by parts rather than by chapters.

You just need to make sure that each one has at least 800 words.

You're wrong about humanity. They are your greatest creation because they're better than you are. Sure, they're weak, and they cheat and steal and destroy and disappoint, but they also give and create, and they sing and dance and love. Above all, they never give up.
