The Official "Help Wanted" Thread

4 posts in this topic.

  1. So, I've noticed that there's a lot of y'all out there who want some help with their stories/characters/whatever and have to start threads just to get that help. You should not have to start a thread for this.

Therefore, I started this for you to post your writing woes here and get prompt advice on what to do. ;)

From here on in, if you need some help with whatever you're writing, just ask here! Anyone's welcome to step up and offer advice, in fact it's great appreciated. :D
  2. Okay, I'd like some advice for a story I'm working on. I think I'll put it in the spoiler, because the novel's on YWS and my problem relates to some major plot developments.

So what happens is that my mc meets this boy who she grows close with quite quickly. They form a close bond and she has feelings for him, but partway through the story he dies. My problem is that I'm not sure if I want to have the two characters kiss at some point before he dies, or if it would be better not to. Would it be sadder if they had one kiss or should I aim to make the tragedy that there was the potential for the relationship to grow, but it was cut short.

Advice would be very much appreciate! :-)
  3. Hmm. I think I would have them almost kiss, but then not. Like they're leaning in, about to do it, but something/someone interrupts them, or they start laughing instead.
  4. That's actually a really good idea, and works really well with the character too! Thanks Lucrezia! :-)
