Beta Readers & Co-Writers

4 posts in this topic.

  1. Title says it all. If you're looking for a co-writer or beta reader(s), this is the place.

    Guidelines/Rules

If interested in having a co-writer, make a post like this:

"Hi there. My name's [insert name here] and I'm writing an action-adventure novella with some humor and romance elements. It revolves around a [insert stuff about the main character here] who [insert plot here]. I need a co-writer because, even though I get lots of good ideas for stories, I have trouble writing them and actually following through and finishing them. Having a collaborator would be a big help. You can check out my portfolio here: [insert link to portfolio... note: this step is optional]. If you're interested, let me know."

To respond to someone looking for a collaborator, write something like:

"Hey [insert person's name here]. That sounds like a great idea! I'd love to help you co-write it. My credentials are [talk about yourself and why you qualify here—optional] and you can check out my portfolio here: [insert link to portfolio—also optional]."

You can chat with your potential co-writers here about partnering up, but once you officially have your collaborator, please discuss any further details (like the story you're working on, plot, characters, et cetera) either in the "Brainstorming" forum or via PM/chat.

If you don't have an idea for a story but want to find a partner that does (this works well if you're suffering from writer's block or just don't get story ideas often), you can post something to the effect of:

"If anyone out there writes horror stories, I'd love to help you out with a collab. Blah blah blah, here's why I'd be good, blah blah blah, here's a link to my portfolio, blah blah blah, thanks."

Beta readers or those that want beta readers should do basically the same. Explain your story, why you need someone to help with proof-reading and reviewing, and so forth.
  2. "Hi there. My name's Cesare, and I'm writing an new sci-fi novella with some humor. It revolves around an alien who's home planet, Venus, is being destroyed by Martians. I need a co-writer because, even though I get lots of good ideas for stories, I have trouble writing them and actually following through and finishing them. Having a collaborator would be a big help. You can check out my portfolio here:If you're interested, let me know."
  3. Hi there. My name is Gaurav, and I am looking forward to co-write short stories with someone. I have been writing satires and have started writing a novel. The problem is, I have some interesting plots in mind [of satire and suspense stories] but I am finding it difficult to actually write it as I am busy with my novel. I will be happy to share my ideas and co-write short stories if someone's interested. [IF you are having writer's block, this will help you, I guess ;)]
  4. Hi there. My name is George and I'm writing a narrative short story with some satire and a reversal. It revolves around a Father who get drunk and his son and daughter tell him that what he has done is wrong and he needs to fix his ways. I need a co-writer because, even though I get lots of good ideas for stories, I have trouble writing the ides into a story. Having a collaborator would be a big help. If you're interested, let me know.
