    Need to vent? Look no further.

    Whether you're venting from bad reviews, negative feedback, writer's block, or whatever, you can come here to let it all out. ;)

    Only one rule: NO SINGLING OUT. By that I mean, do NOT mention any specific user on here by name. For example:

    "I wrote an essay called Why I Love Jello and that jerk @IHateJello came along and said something mean!"

    That's not okay. Should be, instead:

    "I wrote an essay called Why I Love Jello and someone gave me a bad review."

    See the difference? It's okay to mention your piece by name, if you want, but singling out someone is not allowed.

    Other than that, vent away! :D

    I had basically all my writing documents saved to iCloud. And you know what iCloud did? Deleted them.

    So nearly every story I've written in recent years has seemingly disappeared, and I don't know how to get them back. It's pathetic, but I feel like crying.

    Sorry. Just needed to vent. :(

    Aww, that's terrible :(

    I hate it when things like that happen. Makes you want to go kick the people who made iCloud in the face.

    That sounds quite terrible and fairly un-iCloud-y. If you're sure it happened because of it and completely randomly, perhaps try writing to their Support team? There should be some Contact Us link somewhere. It's a long shot, but they might be able to do some magic..?

    I'd feel like crying too if I were you, by the way <_<

    Thanks, you guys.

    @AriaAdams, I know, iCloud has worked perfectly for me in the past, but from the research I've done, apparently it's not that uncommon a problem. I'm going to the Genius Bar today. Hopefully they'll be able to find my docs. *crosses fingers*

    Docs are back! Thank God. It took a two hour conversation and some special iCloud engineers, but they've finally returned. It's a Valentine's Day miracle! XD

    In other venting-related news, I got a bad review for something I've written and now I'm kind of bummed. Not on this website, but a different writing one. I haven't posted anything here yet and now I'm a bit hesitant. O_O

    I agree with you. And this is why I don't post much of my work on hear do to people giving it a lot of negative reviews and acting like, me, as the author, had no clue what I was doing etc.

    I tend to keep my work to myself. I may only share it with someone who I really, really, know.

    Sorry on another note, quite honestly I find it quite annoying how it's almost always poetry on the featured page. I mean I get that they're beautifully written and have messages and anyways the writers DO deserve credit if they've done something wonderful but it's just so annoying because 1) not all writers can write poetry, 2) people tend to not review or read short stories because they take too long to read so the authors are not given credit.
    I'm not necessarily talking personally here... I know there are many great story writers on YWS but everyone reviews poetry... ;)
    Sorry I just felt like I had to say it SOMEWHERE because I've been thinking about it for weeks now...

    @thegirlwhowrites, I agree 100%! I just wrote a Squills article last week on that very same subject. It's so unfair.

    Also, I'm not sure if all the poetry that's featured in the Spotlight is worthy of it. Some of it is very short and does not (to me, anyway) show a lot of creativity and thoughtfulness, or skill. There's plenty of short stories and chapters that deserve to be Spotlighted much more.

    Glad to see I'm not alone. ^_^

    I agree, not all poetry on the featured page made me think "Oh yeah, this reaaalllyyy deserves to be featured"
    Anyways, I've been meaning to ask, what exactly is Squills? I know it's a YWS journal or something...? Sorry! :D

    Squills is kind of like the YWS newspaper. You can read articles on things like the featured member, or a recap of Review Day, and then there's some fun columns, too. Here's the link: viewforum.php?f=387
