I want to see more communication within the Storybooking community.
That's why I joined in the first place; it's almost like a big, SB therapy group. xD -
So that makes me like a counselor or something? Haha
Communication is great, and that's like one of my visions for what this place could be as well, a huge hub for the Storybook forum! -
I'd like people to actually listen to the storybook's GM. Like, seriously people LISTEN TO THE GM DARNIT.

I basically agree with everything that has been said so far, and definitely what Storm said. I don't think the SB community communicates enough, there should a SB chat or something where we can all roleplay. I also think we should get a community roleplay, just a casual roleplay that everyone can join in. (If this sounds stupid.. I'm sorry. >_>)

Yeah something like Character Chit Chat only more meant for Storybook characters. As to where CCC is more general for all sorts of Characters. Also *Lassos @Flite and drags her IM*

I like the idea of having better communication in general! Small steps, of course, but eventually we could get to more in depth things like teaching less experienced SBers about things we take for granted (although stuff like that can and should be happening already)
What about the idea of having RP Word Wars in chat or something similar (SB-themed) in chat to help bring more communication? There's a lot of ways to communicate on YWS, but unfortunately, the SB forum has cut itself off from those forms of communication, lending to only the DT for the main form of communication. One of my bigger goals is to get chat, clubs, IM, and PM-ing back into those form of communications, to bring it more social, as Storybooking is a huge social experience! -
^ the RP WW sounds like a good idea. But I do agree that the SB forum cuts itself off. What I'm thinking of is that, we need to think of a way to connect the SB forum with the rest of YWS. If we could talk to Nate or anyone in an authoritative position of maybe opening a room in chat specially for SB (or RP-based) might promote communication?

I thought that was what the Cloakroom was for? Or was that more general RPness and games or something? I wish we could still create our own chatrooms specifically targeted towards an SB or something.

Well, the Cloakroom is already meant for something like that, and usually it's all but dead, so that's a good area to do stuff in

Nate gave The Cloakroom to chat for roleplays and games of all natures. This includes Storybook Discussion of any nature.
As far as 'connecting' the SB forum to the rest of the site, I'm not quite sure what that would accomplish. See, there are already Featured Members from the SB forum. All members of a Storybook receive notifications upon posts. There's a method to mass-PM all the members of your Storybook if you're the GM.
I think what people are noticing is just a lull in activity, which is natural for this time of year. Peak Storybooking time is over Christmas break and Summer Vacation (which can be confusing for those of us out of the traditional school system since we don't work on large chunks of breaks) and basically folks compare all activity to Summer activity and get discouraged. The fact is, if you're getting a post a week? You're good to go.
I don't have a communication problem with my cast members because we utilize skype chats to plot and discuss. If you want something similar, I suggest setting aside a time each week (around 10pm GMT on a Saturday or Sunday, likely) and spend time in chat together. You have all of YWS' means of communication at your disposal.
And if someone in chat gives you a hard time for using the cloakroom to Storybook chat, tell them to take it up with Lumi. I'll even make a note in the Chat Mod forum that I gave The Cloakroom this re-dedication.
Also, if you have any ideas for the SB forum that you'd like to run directly to one of the mods, feel free to shout at me whenever you'd like. -
Well, I myself don't know what it would accomplish either! I just know that communication is not used in most other ways than the DT (exceptions not included haha) and that I would like more communication on the front of the whole SB forum. This club could be one of those ways!
Well, I'm off for the night. I love the interaction this has gotten so far and I'll bring some more ideas to the table tomorrow. -
I agree with Dandruff in toto. We already have places to post resources in (poor old GSD) and ways to communicate, which we do already -- take Sis' storybooks, for example, or indeed Dandruff's.
I feel this club is slightly redundant, the way it aims to work. It could be useful as a place to gather members, though. It differs from GSD and the chatroom in that you can immediately take a look at most of the population of yws that is inclined to storybook. In this sense, the club could be useful to gather members, or to express interest in joining/creating a club, as opposed to, say, peoples' walls.
Not that GSD doesn't do that already, potentially, but clubs are easier. Ultimately, the only conceivable way I see right now to drastically improve our storybooks is to warp YWS away to a magical dimension free of real life and brimming with literary otium. -
Well, the club may be redundant now, but that's the point of this forum: To see what this club turns out to be! It's up to the club members on what this club turns out to be.
Another direction to take this club is to make it a sort of hub for ease of access information about the newest Storybooks or something along those lines. This could differ from the GSD (man that thing is dead) because it can stay alive by the members that are in the club. If you want to propose a storybook, you can promote it on this club, which would help people understand the trend of the storybooks and what's new.
