An alternative that hurts your back less is putting your hands under your butt.

    thanks Rosey!

I'm just curious, is this a club solely for weight loss or is it about fitness in general? Just because all the topics I see are how to lose weight, exercise, or decrease the amount of calories in one's diet.

I just thought I'd bring to light that being underweight/anorexic/bulimic is also an issue to staying fit, is there anyone who can help with these issues here?

    LadySpark replied · Mar 25, 2013

it's about fitness, and there's nothing about about decreasing the number of calories in a diet. Plus, exercise is part f being healthy. The point of this club is to help people make healthy choices.

And there is defiantly the option for help if someone has anorexia or bulimia. You only have to ask. I can help with these issues, having experienced them first hand.

    Cspr replied · Mar 25, 2013

I can help with the latter issues, Black Sheep. I was once roughly 90 pounds. No for lack of trying, but my metabolism thought we were sprinting all the time. If anyone needs help with loading up on good calories or dealing with body image issues (I have some crazy dysmorphia still), I'd love to help. :)

Alright, that's good. It was just my first impression that most people are talking about ways to exercise and lose weight and I kinda felt that was definitely not what I need xD I'll go ahead and make a thread then.

Had a baby six months, almost back to my original weight but being stuck inside all day is making me fat! Can't wait for spring to come and melt all the snow away so I can go outside and run!

Over the past couple months, I've put on 5 kilos. :( But netball season has started up and we're training for cross country in PE so I should start getting back in shape.

Anything to do with cross country is awful. I jog, but I really hate it

  • Cspr replied · Mar 20, 2013

(TW) Because being anorexic is also bad for your health.

  • indieeloise replied · Mar 19, 2013

    That sounds delicious!

    LadySpark replied · Mar 19, 2013

    It is!

  • Blues replied · Mar 17, 2013

I'm not fit at the moment xD Fitter than I thought I was though.

There are so many things that are stopping me from becoming fit. My legs absolutely hate me along with the weather. I also have very little time! But summer is on the way so hopefully I will have no excuse not to be active C:

    indieeloise replied · Mar 17, 2013

    Eating! Chocolate!

    LadySpark replied · Mar 18, 2013

    hahaha same indie

    Cspr replied · Mar 19, 2013

The pain and stiffness following exercise. :/

    LadySpark replied · Mar 20, 2013

    ohhh cspr.
Have you tried applying heat or taking a hot shower after a workout? it will loosen the muscles and keep the warm longer. It helps me a lot.
Also, make sure you're stretching before and after!

    Cspr replied · Mar 20, 2013

Actually, I stretch a lot, but I just found out that cold packs are helpful for me. o.O My body works in mysterious ways. Thanks, though.

  • Blues replied · Mar 17, 2013

I had porridge and a mug of green tea! :)

    LadySpark replied · Mar 17, 2013

    yum!

    Rosendorn replied · Mar 17, 2013

Usually it is two eggs and three slices of almond bread with blueberry butter on top.

    LadySpark replied · Mar 17, 2013

    blueberry butter <3

    Rosendorn replied · Mar 17, 2013

SO EASY TO MAKE. Thaw frozen blueberries (I use 2/3s of a cup), mix in two teaspoons of sugar to the thawed blueberries, mash them up, add half a stick of butter, mix again. Takes some time for the butter to soften enough to mix properly, but still. Really easy. xD

    Blues replied · Mar 17, 2013

That sounds amazing. I'm so trying that!

    Rosendorn replied · Mar 17, 2013

You get a similar taste to jam without the crazy amount of sugar. It's nice.

Also, the reason I say mix the sugar in with the blueberries is they end up with a lot of extra liquid (after you thaw them, you're supposed to drain excess liquid off before mashing, and you'll get more liquid after you start!). If you let the sugar dissolve in the blueberries and mix it around before then, the juice becomes something you can drizzle on bread after to get the same taste as the butter without the actual butter.

    LadySpark replied · Mar 18, 2013

    Rosey, that's a great recipe!

I feel like I may be in the wrong place, but I've been bedridden since September and lost nearly all of my muscle mass. Basically, as always, my problem is that my bones really like to show themselves off. ...Is this acceptable? I mean, I don't know about you guys, but showering is Hell for me, so I think most certainly not fit.

    Rosendorn replied · Mar 15, 2013

Well, we are here to help each other out. I'd say all levels of fitness are accepted.

Also, I have my really bad days where my legs want to give out and I start trembling if I do any level of physical activity. The muscle tone in my back and legs is almost non-existent, and if I'm not careful working out makes it worse. Chronic illness makes fitness interesting.

    Cspr replied · Mar 15, 2013

Thanks, Rosey. Sorry we both deal with the same thing, though. But, yeah, it does, doesn't it? I'm hopefully going to get into therapy horseback riding eventually... As for now, I don't know much else to do but stretch and walk when I can. :/

    Rosendorn replied · Mar 15, 2013

I've found what helps is keeping your calcium, magnesium, iron and protein intakes high. They tend to be what help keep muscle. My issue was I simply didn't absorb them (especially iron). I started getting more iron and began keeping tone a lot better.

    Cspr replied · Mar 15, 2013

I'll keep that in mind. :) My problem right now is I'm not eating... Today I've eaten a sandwich and drank a protein shake. I'm quite tall. Bad idea. As it is, I'm going to try to eat some spaghetti. Otherwise, do you ever get really bad pain in your legs--like zombies are nomming on them--after you exercise? That happens to me and today it was so bad I tried to make myself pass out. :/

    Rosendorn replied · Mar 15, 2013

Yes. Yes I do. It's gotten better since I've been taking supplements (I take calmag and iron because I am deficient) but I still have to be really careful when working out. I can only do so once or twice a week, else I get sicker. Eating in general also helped, but I discovered I had a lot of allergies that were making me sicker the more I ate, so I was never hungry... and maybe we should take this to PM? heh.
