Recently, I found out about this religion called Unitarian Universalist, which I'm intrigued by. What is the belief systen behind it?

Ljungtroll Mostly we believe we should respect opinions that aren't harmful to others and that we should speak out against opression. We're a very warm and fuzzy religion in the sense that our hymns talk more about love and acceptance than they do about any one diety, and our religious education classes cover different religions as well as current world problems like racism and the persecution of Muslims. Does agnostic/aethist/undecided-ish count as a religion?

Lightsong I believe these type of believes do not include a deity (or more), so nope.

Rubric For the sake of simplicity, they count as a religion on documentation that records categories of religious belief or non-belief. Otherwise, no.

If the Bible is fictional, it's the most influential and inspiring fiction story in the whole world.

    SkyeWalker Influential? Maybe. Inspiring? eeehhh

I mean, rape, murder, incest, among other things...

So for those who don't know, I am an atheist, although I have thought about converting to Buddhism. I have researched Buddhism and found out there are multiple, multiple things to it. So, I was wondering, are there any Buddhists out there?

  • Heyo... I decided to join. I don't think many people realize I'm religious. Anyway hi~

  • Well, since this club is here, and since it seems interesting, I may as well join it. Hello! My stance is pretty much the same as fruit4you; I'm basically an agnostic athiest. I don't know if there is a God or not, though I believe science indicates there always is the possibility, but I personally don't believe in a higher deity myself. Mainly cause my scientific-based philosophy doesn't see the need for one.

Now, the important stuff: I am not immoral (religion is hardly the sole factor behind one's morals), I do not worship the Devil (I don't believe in Heaven as well as hell), I find it hard to subscribe to any major religious system (so don't expect to convert me), and believing in scientific principles does not make me religious in that respect (because science and religion rely upon entirely different concepts; my adherence to scientific principles is based on logic, not faith). And I'd like to believe there is a heaven, and that everyone can have a relatively peaceful afterlife, but I am accepting of the possibility that nothing will follow death. My goals in life are just to do my best, help people out, be an inspiration to myself, and maybe even get my voice heard. But I'm cynical, so I doubt the last one will happen. :P

Anyways, now that that's done with, hello! You're stuck with me now! :P

    Lightsong Welcomel! :D

I'm an atheist but I won't say god exists and I won't say a god doesn't exist. But everyone hates when I say I'm an atheist. Sometimes (especially being in East Texas) I feel like an outcast.

Cole That's unfortunate. In many conservative communities (like the ones common in the South), atheism is extremely stigmatized. Hang in there!

Most stuff on normal internet will probably be garbage concerning this subject, so something you might try -that I've done before to great effect- is look up some stuff on Japanese web and translate.

You walk into this room at your own risk, because it leads to the future, not a future that will be but one that might be. This is not a new world, it is simply an extension of what began in the old one. It has patterned itself after every dictator who has ever planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time. It has refinements, technological advances, and a more sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom. But like every one of the super states that preceded it, it has one iron rule: logic is an enemy and truth is a menace.
