not sure what to call this.....

This is a 2nd draft and the beginning few chapters are a little silly and far-fetched but it gets better as it goes on so bare with me please even though it is a bit long i swear it gets better

Part one

A girl sat at the edge of a lake. The wind blowing through her hair.

She noticed a gang like group of boys a few feet from her. She

Knew they were looking at her but she didn’t really care. A lot of

boys that were too old for her stared at her For she was amazingly

Beautiful. Her hair was a copper like blond. Her eyes a sparkling

Blue/green but not the kind you found as the main characters in movies, they had much more beauty to them, not just Hollywood movies that makes you sure that they are photo shopping them. Her breasts weren’t much out of the ordinary but if she tried she could make any boy, even the most stuck up one, turn his head. And her body. She was slender, but not too much so. She never believe she was fat. She almost never wore shorts but when she did she was a head turner.

One of the boys walked up to her.

“Hey” he said. He sounded and looked about 16 or 17.

“Hi” she said back.

“Mind if I sit” he asked. She did mind she wanted him to go Away.

“No” she lied.

“What’s your name?” the boy asked.

“Aurora” she really wished he would go away.

“Come on man ask her out or leave her alone” one of the other boys said from a few feet away.

Aurora was beginning to feel shy. She stood up and started to walk away. The boy grabbed her but she

Pulled away.

“Ignore them and sit down” he commanded.

“I have to go” she said. Backing away. He grabbed her arm again.

“How ‘bout you and me go out some time.” He paused. “by the way my name’s josh”

She laughed “I'm sorry” she lied “but you’re not my type” she wasn’t feeling shy any more. Turning down guys was her specialty

“Answer me simple yes or no question”

“Fine what ever just let me go”

“Meet me here tomorrow. 5 o’clock?”

“Fine let me go!” he let her go and she knew she would not be coming back.

When aurora got home her dad was gone. She was alone In the house. When she got on the computer, she told Her best friend karma what had happened.

Karm37: you can’t go!! I know those guys they are bad news.

Rora37: and that’s old new.

Rora37: I kind of figured that out after he grabbed my arm and

Wouldn’t let go till I told him I would come back.

Karm37: what!!

Rora37: well other than that he doesnt seem too bad.

Karm37: rora!!!!

Karm37: what's his name?

Rora37: josh

Rora37: I think

Karm37: josh!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Rora37: yea?????

Karm37: no you have got to be kidding. He is NOT nice

Karm37: nicer than some of the others but still one of the worst

Rora37: I’ll go see what I think if I don’t like him I’ll leave

Rora37: I cant just not show

Karm37: oh yes you can

Rora37: I’ll go see what I think If I don’t like him I’ll leave and

Never have to see him again

Karm37: you go and I might just have to kill you

“Hi Hun” Mr. Madlent aurora’s dad said. As he walked in the door.

“Hey” aurora said sleepily.

“I heard you have a date tomorrow” Aurora jolted up at this.

“How did you know that!?” aurora screamed “and it’s not a date he’s a jerk I’m not going”

“Come on Renee he’s a nice kid he works in my shop”

“After the way he treated me? I don’t think so” this seemed to startle him but he ignored it.

“He really likes you I can tell just think about it” aurora nodded but the last kind of guy she wanted was one her father LIKED.

Aurora was at Sara’s, one of her best friends, at 5:00 the next day, there was no way she was going back to that lake….ever.

An hour passed and they heard a knock on the door. Sara stood up from their game of clue and went to see who it was.

“Aurora!” she yelled “there’s some weird dude here for you” aurora stood up, guessing that it was her father. Sara had never met him so to her it would be some weird dude because Joseph Alan Madlent NEVER gave him self any title….not even dad. She had heard some people call him boss some times but once they saw her they just called him Joseph….she could never figure out why though.

But the person at the door was NOT her father. She actually didn't know who it was.

“Um…”she said “hi?”

“You didn't show” the strange man said “of course I didn't really expect you to”

“I'm afraid I don’t know what you’re talking about” aurora said starting to close the door. But the strange man stepped in the house along with three other boys. Sara was in shock…..how impolite for three boys to just walk into a house without being invited.

The stranger grabbed aurora and headed for the nearest room that he saw. His grip was strong and aurora realized who he was “holy shit” she thought “how did he find me” and, as if reading her mind he said

“Your father told me where I might find you” he paused “he also mentioned a girl named karma…..but I'm sure he was only joking” aurora was confused. Why did he think her father was only joking? And why did he answer the one question she was wondering?

“I'm sure he was joking because you and karma would be more like enemy, that is if you even knew her.”

“Fuck! He did it again!” josh locked the door and the three other guys he had with him aurora notice looked amazingly strong. She knew that if josh got mad at all that they could pick her up and snap her in half like a twig…..that did not help.

“Now” josh said “did you really think that you could avoid me?” aurora punched him.

“Not a bad swing” he said dodging her fist “but don’t play with me” he pushed her backwards and one of the men caught her. He held her arms behind her back in a very uncomfortable position.

Josh walked up to her.

“Now answer me” he said “were you trying to avoid me”

“If I had known you were a stalker I wouldn’t have I would have just gone to the police” aurora said.

“I’ll take that as a yes” josh turned to the man holding aurora still “Samson,” he addressed “let her go” the man named Samson let her go, pushing her in the process. Josh caught her and held her. She couldn’t move.

“Let me go!” she screamed. Josh laughed.

“now do you really think I would do that?” aurora didn't answer she didn't move she shut her eye’s hoping to fall asleep and when she woke up have some one at least pretend that it had all been a dream. But she was wide a wake and knew she was kidding herself. She knew the difference between reality and dreams.

“You seem to have a problem with yes and no questions” josh said. He wrapped his arms around her waist and a tear fell down her face. He kissed her for what felt like years though it was barely a minute and then threw her down hard the wood floor. She passed out.

She woke up in her bed and at first really did think it had all just been a dream for it seemed to end quite suddenly. But then her father walked in and the worried look on his face told her other wise.

“What’s wrong?” aurora asked. Hoping with all her heart that he would answer a simple nothing and go on complaining about her room.

“You” her dad said “josh came by and dropped you off he said something about Sara. I always knew she was bad for you to hang out with. what did you think of him?”

“He’s too old for me”

“He’s only 17”

“Dad, that’s 3 years older than me”

“So? Your mother was 4 years younger than me. And I don’t want you hanging out with Sara any more."

“Dad I….” was all she could say before he cut her off

“Here josh left this for you.” He handed her a note in an envelope and to that he left noting that he wanted her to get some rest at the door.

Believe me I don’t want to hurt you

But I will if you tell any one anything

Meet me tomorrow at the lake 5:00

Josh

That was all.

At 5:00 aurora was in bed she had locked the door and hoped that her father wouldn’t betray her again

Though as you could have guessed she had no such luck. At 5:20 she heard a knock at the door. She did not leave her room. She did not look to see who it was. She did however look out her door to make sure the other was still locked then locked that one too. Not knowing why it wouldn’t be but still wanting to make sure.

“I have a gun! Open the freakin door!” she heard Josh yell. She hoped he was bluffing because there was no way she was opening any door. She hardly dared to breathe even though she knew he couldn’t hear.

One of josh’s friends kicked in the front door and then aurora’s door. Aurora was pretty sure it was Samson though not fully for all of them were pretty big and all looked pretty much the same. Other than josh who was muscular but not as much so and a little shorter than the rest. He wasn’t as hott as the others but could still pick up any girl he looked at. He must have hated the fact that she turned him down and that was the reason he was stalking her is what aurora thought.

Josh was smirking and aurora couldn’t help noticing how amazingly good-looking he was. But she couldn’t stand him and that was that. Besides she didn’t date.

“Now did you really again think you could avoid me?” josh asked. Again aurora didn’t answer “this is getting ridiculous. She obviously doesn’t know how to say the words yes and no"

“Karma was right about you.” Aurora said. “You’re nothing but a jerk”

“You know karma?” josh asked “figures she’d be all over you”

“all over me?” aurora didn’t understand. Karma wasn’t a lesbian. What did he mean by that?

“don’t worry about it” josh said, seeming to like the air of mischief and mystery. “now you’re coming with me” he grabbed her.

“get off of me!” aurora screamed pulling away from him. But it didn’t help. Three boys including josh surrounded her. There was no way for her to get away from even one of them let alone 3.

One of the boys held her around the chest while josh left a note for Mr. Madlent on the table. He whispered threats in her ear and by the time josh was done aurora had tears in her eyes.

“please! Just let me go!!!” aurora screamed at the top of her lungs.

“you didn’t show. There ain’t no way I’m letting you go now.” Josh said laughing. Though aurora found nothing funny. “knock her out”

“what!” aurora yelled but a hand was already closing around her throat and she felt something hit her head. She was out.

Aurora woke up on a cold hard floor. she opened her eyes and saw bars. She was in some form of jail cell.

She didn’t, couldn’t, wouldn’t, believe this. She looked around to find that she wasn’t the only one here there were many other girls. Most looking much older though. About 16-20. she sat up and one of the girls saw her.

“you’ve been out for a while” she said. Aurora just stared at her.

“lez leave her alone” another girl said. “she looks terrified."

“should I leave?” the girl asked.

“no it’s ok” aurora said quietly and then added more to herself than any one else. “karma was right about josh. He’s a maniac” the girl brightened up at this.

“you know karma?” she asked in a much higher voice.

“yea do you?

“no but she comes in here every once in a while” aurora almost laughed at this. Karma in a place like this?

“um. I think we’re talking about two different people”

“oh. Ok” the girl said but didn’t sound convinced. She left and went to sit with the girl that had just told her to leave aurora alone. Aurora got up and walked over there.

“where am I? she asked,

“you’re in hell” the girl said and turned back to her friend. Aurora sat back down in the place she was originally. She sat with her head in her knees. The door opened and she looked up. A some what tall and very muscular man walked in.

“well” he said “Pamers did say you were beautiful. But I didn’t expect to see a goddess” aurora realized he was talking to her. She knew the guy she was talking to. Or at least knew who he was. She had seem him at a local college one day when walking home from school. She had heard some one that now come to think of it looked oddly like josh yell something like “David Norsull where do you think you’re going!” though that seemed like something a 5th grade teacher would say, not a friend. But she knew his name at least.

He unlocked the cell and sent some one into get her. All the girls look terrified of david and she had a feeling they had a good reason for it. She didn’t move when the man commanded her to get up. So he grabbed her by the neck of her shirt and placed her forcefully on her feet and pushed her out of the cell. She didn’t attempt to get up until David, surprisingly gently, took her arm and stood her up. He smiled at her warmly and she actually started to like him. Well. More than josh anyway.

“there is something Pamers didn’t tell me” he said “your name?” aurora didn’t answer “he did say you were stubborn but I thought you might have had some sense to answer me.”

“she doesn’t know who you are sir” the man behind aurora said. Aurora didn’t know what to think, let alone what to say.

“pamers!!!” David yelled. And josh walked in the room

“what?” he asked annoyed.

“how do you get this girl to talk?”

“you cant”

“how did you do it”

“like this” he walked up to her grabbed her shoulders.

“get off of me!!!” she screamed.

“see” josh said. “the funny thing is she always says that its never ‘don’t touch me’ or ‘back off’”

“nice” David said laughing some what. “but remember she’s not the victim here”

“yea yea what ever” and to that josh left the room. Aurora was in shock she didn’t know what was going on nor did she want to know. She just wanted to go home.

“you’re not getting out of here any time soon.” David said like he too could read her mind. She groaned. The man behind her hit her as the door opened and she fell to the ground. She did not look up to see who it was. Aurora had no desire to know.

“aurora!!!” some one yelled. Then Aurora did looked up. No freakin way was all that went through her mind. For the person in front of her was none other than….karma.

“Joshua Anderson Pamers!” karma yelled. And josh walked in the room once again looking very annoyed

“what!?” he asked.

“calm down karma we don’t want a rerun of yesterday” David said looking very frightened

“shut up!” came karma and josh’s reply

“how did she get here?!” karma said pointing at aurora. half sounded as though she was asking and half sounded like the cops with a light in your eye’s saying “now I’m going to ask you one more time"

“how do you think karma” josh said “that is such a stupid question”

“well….” Karma didn’t know what else to say except “let her go”

“no why on earth would I do that” josh asked “no matter how much you think I am I’m not an idiot”

It was David who talked now “karma, we grant your ever stupid wish but you know as well as any that as soon as we pick up a girl she is ours we wont let her go besides how do you know this girl. I didn’t think you’d fight this hard for your own mother let alone some girl Pamers picked up off the street.”

“you don’t know who this girl is do you?” karma said.

“no why?”

“this pathetic little girl” josh piped up “is believe it or not” he paused “Aurora Renee Madlent” David looked paralyzed.

“well then” he said in a much quieter voice “I was wrong. She is the victim. Well done pamers. Not very well trained is she” karma walked over to josh and pulled out a gun.

“karma!” aurora yelled in shock.

“calm down aurora they’re nothing but idiotic jerks I wont hurt them….much…though I don’t have to hurt you to kill you Joshua. And she has no idea what the hell is going on because her father has kept all of this from her why the hell do you think she’s so scared”

“karma calm down” josh said

“fine” karma said. She turned around and pointed the gun at David. Aurora saw josh send a hand signal to one of the other guys. They over powered her though aurora thought it was too much of an unfair fight. I mean 5 on 1 what’s that about? But then karma came back and shot one of them. This was all unbelievable to aurora. David then pulled out a gun of his own. Where the hell were they getting these things from? this stuff only happened on tv. He pointed it at aurora. She screamed.

“drop the gun” David said to karma. Karma obeyed.

“whoa she listened” came a voice from behind aurora that was instantly told to shut up. David order one of the men to give him the gun.

“if you hurt her” karma threatened.

“you will sit back and watch unless you want me to kill her” David said. Aurora didn’t know what to think she bowed her head and closed her eyes. She thought about praying but then remembered she wasn’t religious.

“leave” David ordered karma.

“no!” but she obeyed after David walked closer to aurora.

“take the brat to my room and chain her up” he ordered uh oh that doesn’t sound good aurora thought and how right was she.

They took her there and she found that by “chain her up” they really mean it. She had about a foot of chain for her hands and feet in the corner of the room. Josh walked in.

“wow” he said “you should feel honored, david doesn’t normally let girls he knows wont cooperate in here” david walked/marched in.

“karma’s acting strange.” David said “but we maybe able to use the brat to get” he stoped and looked at aurora and continued talking to josh, but aurora couldn’t hear. Aurora wished she knew what was going on. Then she re-thought that and thought better of that wish. Josh and david left and aurora sat there for what felt like hours until finally drifting into a very light sleep.

Aurora woke up opened her eyes, then shut them again.

“madlent wants to talk to his daughter” karma’s voice said. “because thanks to you, josh, he thinks she’s with me.”

“fine” david said “wake the bitch up”

“yes sir” a smaller boy said. And came over and poked aurora in the ribs. An image of a little boy poking his sister to see what happened popped into karma’s mind and she burst out laughing for, in david’s mind, no real reason.

“your father wants to talk to you” david said to aurora in a very harsh tone. “tell him any thing and you’re dead”

“can I talk to aurora for a second?” karma asked.

“no you’ll sneak off with her.” Josh said

“you can leave one guard and some at the doors I just want to talk to aurora”

“fine” and he turned to order around some other guys.

“dad?” aurora asked nervously picking up the phone out of karma’s hands.

“hey hun” she heard her dad’s voice say. “how are you?”

“um…fine?”

“whacha been doing?”

“nothing….why?”

“well you and karma do tend to get in trouble” aurora attempted a failed laugh

“yea I guess” he voice was shaky and her dad could read every thing about her because he said she was almost exactly like her mother although sadly she looked more like him, or so he said. In her mind she looked nothing like him other than eye and skin color.

“well I gotta go” mr. madlent said. “just checking on you”

“k” aurora said and she let the phone slip from her hands. Karma caught it and hung it up. “Karma, what in the world is going on?” aurora was scared she was traumatized she didn’t understand anything.

“it’s hard to explain in the little time we have just don’t tell them anything that you don’t know about and tell them NOTHING I repeat NOTHING about your father got that?” aurora nodded. She didn’t ask why. She didn’t really care just ask long as she knew what she was supposed to do if they started interagating her. Although she did really want to know what was going on she was also afraid of what the answer might be.

“Samson” karma said. The guard looked at her. “don’t betray us again”

“karma” the guard named Samson said in a whisper “you know me better than that now shut up”

karma left.

Aurora found herself being thrown back into the cell she had originally been in. she sat in the corner curled up for about 2 hours. Then karma came in.

“we’ve got to get you out of here” karma said. “we need to get you to seriam”

“karma how in the world are you planning to do that?” aurora asked “and what the is fuck seriam?”

“oh sorry” karma said “it’s the group against this one and watch your language these girls hate that kind of thing”

“huh”

“this is a group of people that sells kidnapped girls to pimps well sort of I never figured out if they really ever sold them or not”

“…oh”

“but this has been going on a lot longer than they’ve been doing that. It’s a long story”

“wait why aren’t you there then?”

“I'm here because I live here, I'm josh’s sister.”

“oh…..OH”

“then why did josh seem almost afraid of you?”

“because I’m one of the leaders, well the leader of seriam basically because yo---“ karma stopped herself “the other one doesn’t do anything worth crap. Now no more questions until we’re out of here”

“and how do you plan to do that?”

“simple”

“oh?”

“I have the key”

“oh!!! Then get the out of here!”

Karma laughed “will do”

It was easy for karma to open the door. And she led karma through a couple of doors. Aurora assumed she knew where she was going, or more like hoped while wanting to assume. But, unknown to aurora, karma had tofigure out how to get them past 15 layers of tight security. At least that’s how much there was before David found out who he held captive in the center of his building. Karma was sure he’d at least put his best men up if not more layers. Karma was sure it was Probably both.

“you do know what you’re doing right?” aurora asked, finally feeling it safe to talk after putting 3 doors between her and the other girls that were locked up in that cell and suddenly feeling a stab of guilt that they were still there.

“it’s not your fault aurora there is nothing you could have done” karma said and aurora thought she had been reading her mind. “and to be quite honest I know what we’re up against but no Idea how to dodge it. There are some passages that probably have little or no security but that’s near the center and we’d still have to get passed at least 10 more layers of heavily armed guards”

“ok” aurora said “how in the world does a 19 year old college student and a 17 year old drop out get arms?”

“I cant tell you that”

“you don’t know?”

“no. that’s not what I said. I said I cant tell you.”

“why”

“because aurora I know you and your father and believe it or not I knew your mother too and the instant I give them any scrap of information everything goes sour so no more questions”

“you’re saying we’re untrustworthy”

“yes”

“gee thanks”

“you’re welcome” aurora couldn’t help but smirk. She loved the way karma could use sarcasm in a way to make even the angriest person laugh.

“this way” karma said, changing her voice to a whisper. “duck!” no longer a whisper. Something big came flying their way.

“run they know we’re here….or gone” again aurora couldn’t help but smile. Though aurora was one of the best writers in her school, karma could never seem to put a sentence together properly, writing or speaking.

“there!” some one yelled. Karma cursed.

“aurora if we get caught I’ll make a scene you get out and if I'm right all you’ll need to go is go out the door that they aren’t facing which should be the back if I can do this right and take a right you should hit no more guards because that’s the edge if they take us to the room I think they will. Just exit the first door you see and run south. Just run.” Karma finished saying this just on time any later and aurora would have never known what she was supposed to do because some one attacked her and karma right at that second.

“you girls are in a lot of trouble” the biggest one that aurora thought she recognized said. Karma didn't fight them.

“samson” she whispered when she passed the one that had just spoken. “get aurora out. The main room. Call off the guard.”

“You can’t bribe me woman!” he yelled.

“karma I have an offer for you” David said. Aurora jumped. she hadn't seen him. She scooted closer to karma. She didn't like David. He scared her. But I'm sure that’s what he wanted to do. Aurora didn't yet know it but she was one of the few that might one day be able to hurt him. Weather that meant over powering his job or killing him? Not even karma knew.

“ok” karma said “and?”

“you tell us what we want” David said.

“what’s in it for me”

“the girl isnt harmed.”

“let go?”

“no just not hurt” karma needed no time to think.

“fine”

“good” David smiled “samson bring the girl” the big one every one kept calling samson took hold of aurora’s arm. Aurora jumped. She wasn’t sure what was going on. This was all too weird. She was just waiting to wake up and go with her father to where ever he was planning to take her (he wouldn’t tell her). The only thing that was really getting to her head was that karma really wanted her out of this place. So badly that she was sacraficing herself. Or what ever they wanted to know. Which means karma was kiding something. Aurora didn't like this. Way to much like a movie. She was not living in a movie this was LIFE there arent supposed to be any REAL dangers in a normal persons life except getting dumped or failing your SATs.

They went to a small room big enough for about 6 people to sit in comfortably. But Of course there were 8 of them and they were all standing, so none of them were comfortable but I guess they weren’t supposed to be.

Aurora didn’t realize what karma had agreed to until much later when it was far too late to do anything about it.

David sat across from karma smiling.

“now” he said “what might be the location of seriam?”

“well…this MIGHT be the location of course, china MIGHT be the location also” karma replied

“not funny” david said crossly “you’ll tell me if you care so much about that little brat”

“that wasn’t the deal”

“since when do I follow rules?”

“he has a point” said a voice from behind her. She turned. The person she was now face to face with she couldn’t identify. “you must be karma” she guessed he was in his 30’s. which surprised her because the average age for the people around here was 15-25. she looked back at David. She realized immediately that this person was related to david. Possibly his father, which was very odd to karma because she didn’t see david as some one to stick that closely to family for he saw them as people that could easily destroy his “tough guy” reputation. But there was some one that looked exactly like him there was no way it could be a coincidence.

“you think very fast if you’ve already figured that out” the man said And, as Joshua and david tended to do, he gave karma the feeling that her mind had just been read.

“just take her Andrew” david said.

“not yet” Andrew (david’s father) said. “this other girl you mentioned, what happened to her?”

“oh you’ll see” said david smiling “oh karma one more thing….the location? Or your little friend is gone” he paused. Then laughed. “or I could just give her to him” he pointed to Andrew “she’s be good as gone that way too.” Karma must have looked confused because Andrew started laughing and david continued doing so even after calling for Samson and a man came in with a struggling girl in his arms and when karma realized that this girl was aurora she started to protest.

“shut up” david said and when she continued to protest Andrew pushed her to the ground, kicked her, and told her once more to shut up. This time she listened.

Andrew stepped over karma and walked to aurora.

“you were right david she is amazing.” He said “a bit young but she’ll do.” Aurora closer her eyes and wished it all away. She wished she had never gone to that lake. She wished her aunt had not got her into writing so she wouldn’t not have been writing, which is the only reason she ever went to the lake in the first place. She wished she was back in her house laying in bed begging to her father to order pizza and thinking herself the most un-lucky girl in ohio when he said no.

“let her go” david said and Samson dropped her. She fell to the floor.

“I didn’t say drop her” david said with his sneaky little smirk “I said let her go”

“what’s the difference?” Andrew asked.

“not really sure.” David said in fake thought. They both laughed.

Karma who had been too afraid to stand up in fear of getting hit, pulled out her pocket knife and snuck up behind Samson. As she was not able to get to david. And dug it into his arm. He screamed. David walked to her, pushed her down, dug his heel into her back, and put all of his weight on her. She rolled over and slapped him straight across the face as he fell to the ground.

Every one had been paying so much attention to this little cat fight. Karma had thought about this maybe happening and she had given aurora directions to seriam (aurora of course had no idea what seriam was as of yet and had only been told that it was a place to get help). So while every one’s focus was on karma and david, aurora snuck out the half open door. Karma had also given her directions out of the building she was currently in and told her if she met any one simply to appear as though she knew what she was doing

“WHAT THE HELL!” david yelled smacking karma “where is she!” karma seemed pleased and she was. David grabbed karma and started calling her a stream of names that had no effect what so ever except the fact that his breath made karma cringe at the smell of alcohol.

Aurora ran. She ran until she could run no more and at this time she was there. She passed out right in front of one of the guard who caught her at took her inside.

When aurora woke up she was in a dimly lit room, there were a few other people around her and when she sat up they all came to attention

“what’s going on?” one asked

“does it have anything to do with Carros?” asked another.

“she must have come from carros” a man said “I have never seen a girl that scarred that didn’t come from there.”

Aurora was confused.

“what?” she asked. “where am I?”

“seriam” a girl answered.

“karma” aurora said to herself. For karma had talked much of Seriam.

“are you one of the ones they convinced that karma was an evil tyrant? And that seriam is a bad place? And if not how do you know karma?” the same girl asked.

“I” aurora started. “I don’t know” her head hurt and she laid back but almost immediately passed out again. When she woke up she was once more in a dimly lit room but there was no one around her. She sat up and saw a plate of food beside her with a note on it.

The plate had three different types of fruit on it, kiwi, banana, and an apple. It also had a salad and 2 chicken legs that had two different kinds of sauces, ketchup and bar b-q. she picked up the note.

It read:

After you eat come out the door and go to the left until you can no more

Do not be afraid we wont hurt you Please eat first you looked starving

There was no punctuation. No capitals. Just a few words scribbled on a piece of paper.

Aurora had already decided that this place…where ever it may be…was trust worthy. At least for the time being. She ate the banana but nothing else and headed down the hall. She wasn’t quite sure where she was going but figured she’d find it anyways. When she hit the end of the hall she saw a young man. Probably still in his teen years. Maybe 16 or 17.

“there you are” he said, a little too friendly. “I was wondering if you would ever show up at all.”

Aurora said not a word. Nor did she move.

“how do you know karma?” asked a girl from behind her. But aurora still said nothing. The girl walked in front of her holding a gun. Aurora took a step backwards. “answer me”

“bethany!” the man said “this girl has gone through enough put that down!”

“but she could be dangerous” the girl complained but she obeyed.

“thank you” the man said. “now” he focused his attention on aurora “I have a few questions for you please do not be afraid to answer”

meanwhile karma was being hit, kicked, whipped, everything you could think of because she refused to answer any of David’s questions.

“tell me where the brat is or when I do find her I’ll kill her” he said threateningly.

“but if I tell you where she is you’ll find and kill her even faster” karma pointed out. Right before getting slapped across the back with a leather whip

she screamed.

“where is she?!” David yelled. Karma was breathless on the floor. But still she said not a word. Andrew told her to answer the question and kicked her when she didn’t. she was in too much pain to move and too afraid to say anything.

“ANSWER ME!”

Aurora hated questions so she didn’t do well with the man that was questioning her.

“I dropped into the wrong soap oprah” she thought. As the man asked her again where she had come from

“just shut up!” she had finally burst. She couldn’t take it any more. “I don’t know!” it was the truth. She had no idea from where or how she had come here. The man took out a cell phone.

“hey boss” he said “there’s no doubt about it. You might want to get over here”

“wait what?” aurora asked, no longer angry…just confused. “what’s no doubt? Who’re you talking to?”

“I don’t know how she has any relation with karma though…” the man said into the phone. Followed by a string of “yes sir I understand” and “okay what ever you say”

“how do you know karma?” the man asked again “I really need to know”

“I’ve known her my whole life” aurora said before realizing the phone was on speaker and who ever that man was talking to was listening. “wait why are you still on the phone?”

“just answer the questions.” He said. Much like a reporter or a cop would have. Seeing the look on aurora’s face he picked up the phone and muttered something about a “room” and “not a talkative mood”

“follow me” the man said

“why should I?” came aurora’s reply.

“because I’ll send you right back to the place you came from if you don’t” the man replied rather rudely. She looked at him and then followed.

“you stay here” he said once he opened the door to a normal looking bed room. About the size of one you’d get in a suite. “if you need anything there’s a phone” he pointed to the far left wall “just pick it up and talk to the operator. If you get hungry use it if you’re cold or in any other way uncomfortable tell the maid when she comes in. she should be around ever other hour or so. If you feel like answering any of my questions or want some one else to ask them use the phone. And there’s a plate of food over there….you should eat something” and to that he left. Aurora was alone again “finally” she thought. She hated that man…who ever he was…that had been questioning her. And she just plain hated being questioned.

Karma was now passed out on the floor.

“I doubt she’s ever going to say anything” david said. “you got that right” some one else said. He looked down. Karma was talking in her sleep.

“ha” Andrew said “what are the odds of that” then he continued “where is aurora”

“Seriam” karma half mumbled…still asleep.

“and that is?”

“south”

“good enough. David start the car”

David and Andrew now knew where to go. Now it was just a matter of getting passed security. The security at Seriam was just as tight as in Carros and david’s face was the one EVERYONE knew. Even the babies would start crying if they saw him there. Josh was better known though. Just because they knew his back ground and weaknesses. But the real question was still how to get into Seriam with out being found out.

Aurora wasn’t at all hungry. She knew she should eat and she couldn’t even remember what the last thing she ate was but she was too worried about karma to eat anything. Also she was too confused. How did these people know karma? Were they even talking about the same person? Why hadn't her father tried to find her? Had her father tried to find her? She desperately wanted answer. Millions of questions were begging to be answered.

The maid came in ever few hours and yelled at her to eat something. Every once in a while the man that had questioned her came in and tried to get her to say something. Every time she just shook her head. She didn't trust him. She didn't even trust karma at this second.

Eventually the man came in and said.

“listen I’m sorry if I scared you but we need answers. You don’t understand what’s going on here. We could lose. And that cant happen.”

“okay” aurora said. The man started at her in shock. He apparently hadn't known that she was listening. Let alone going to answer. “I’ll answer your questions if you answer mine”

“fair enough” the man said “but I need answers first”

“fine” aurora said “but let me think for a while. Come back in an hour”

Karma was locked in a strange room that had only one metal door and no windows. She had long since stopped trying to break down then door and knew she had to just put all of her hope and faith in her men and their brains. She could no longer do anything to save aurora.

“my men can do anything” she thought to herself. “aurora is safe with them” but the thought that aurora might not have made it to Seriam overwhelmed her. She tried as hard as she could to think positively but she couldn’t. She thought for sure that aurora would have tried to warn her father or some other friend. She did not know, even after knowing her for her whole life, that aurora was not that smart. Aurora was a follower. She followed orders and didn't stop to think.

Karma finally managed to fall asleep on the hard floor only to be woken three hours later by Carros’s men and taken to David for further interrogation.

Aurora had answered all of the man’s questions and had found out a bit about Carros and Seriam.

She had also asked who Joshua and David were but she instead got why they hated each other. Which she didn't give a crap about. When she said this however the man got very angry and she made a mental note to avoid him as much as posible. She realised that her life was turning into a movie. She rated it pg-13 and hoped with all her mind and heart that it would not be rated r at a later time.

“just one more question” the man said “your name?”

“aurora, I already told you that”

“your last name” aurora did answer.

Karma had been refusing to say anything for the last hour and David was getting very angry. He raised a whip and hit her until she passed out. But even though she had refused to speak they had their answer. This girl really was worth it. They need to find her. They locked her up once more and hoped they’d have the girl before they needed her again.

“OH MY FREAKIN GOD” aurora said when she found out about karma.

“we’re trying to get her out but it’s hard” the man said. “by the way, now that you trust me a bit more, my name’s paul” aurora blushed. He noticed.

“oh” aurora said “okay?”

“why are you blushing” paul asked.

“I’m not” aurora said a bit too fast. Paul looked at her like she was crazy. And considering the last few days she agreed with him.

“right” paul said sarcastically.

“I want to help” aurora said.

“huh?” paul asked confused.

“with karma”

“oh…sorry I cant do that…I might be able to take you along though” aurora nodded “I’ll go see what lauren feels about that”

“who?”

“karma’s vp”

“huh???”

“I’ll explain later…or better…karma will. All I can say is karma lives in Carros and needed some one to be in Seriam as well” he was about to say something else but aurora cut him off.

“I get it you can shut up now” Paul was the one blushing now. He left. Aurora sighed. “man I wish I was at home right now” she thought.

Karma awoke to find herself locked up again. She screamed and yelled so loud she was sure David and his father could hear her through the sound proof walls all the way to china. “shut the hell up” she imagined David yelling back. For some reason this made her a bit happier and she fell back to sleep. Hoping that her men were taking care of aurora.

Aurora how ever was having a much harder time getting to sleep. She couldn’t help thinking of karma. At last she got to sleep only to be woken up again in what felt to her like 5 seconds but what was really 2 hours.

“life hates me” she said to herself.

“and that’s why we hate it back” she heard some one say. She turned and saw Paul standing there with a smirk on his face that reminded her of josh. “you said you wanted to go with us. Let’s go”

“really?” aurora asked. Paul nodded.

“eat something first” and to that he left and aurora, not totally stubborn, ate the plate of food he had set down beside her bed.

Karma was asleep when David walked in two days later.

“wake up you bitch” he yelled. He kicked her in the side. She was awake in seconds but not before they had put her on a cart and started toting her off. When she realized where she was going she freaked. She jumped off the cart and ran the other way (they hadn't tied her down because she had showed no sign of waking up. David Joshua and Mr. Norsull (Aaron) ran after her.

Karma found her way to her room and grabbed a gun. Aaron, not knowing karma very well, started laughing.

“like you’d dare” he said. Karma looked at him and smiled

“karma don’t!” David yelled.

“do you really think she would dare shoot any of us” Aaron asked David like he was crazy. He opened his mouth to say something more but let out a scream instead because karma, in spite of everything he had just said, had shot him in the leg. She walked up to him so that she was about arms length from him and pointed the gun at his head.

“karma!” David yelled “don’t!”

“maybe you should stop looking for aurora” karma said “then maybe I wont shoot him.” David and josh had no clue what karma had done but Aaron now lay passed out on the floor. David passed out as well and josh looked at karma. He started to say something but thought better of it.

“get me a phone” karma ordered. Joshua obeyed and gave her David’s cell phone. He slowly started to back away and head for the door.

“oh no you don’t” karma said raising the gun “sit” karma took Aaron’s handcuffs and cuffed him to the chair. She opened the phone and dialed.

Aurora heard a phone ring and Paul answered it.

“helo?” he asked “KARMA!”

“what?” aurora said. Jolting up straight. “karma?”

“hold on aurora” Paul said “yes aurora’s here.”

“what’s going on?” aurora asked.

“I’ll be right there” Paul said and he hung up. He turned to aurora “I have to go”

“I want to go with you” she said.

“fine but I’m not taking you in I’ll leave you in the car about half a mile away.”

“from Carros?” Paul was hesitant to answer her

“yes” he finally said.

“fine”

karma put the phone down and turned to Joshua only to find that he wasn’t there.

“no matter” karma thought “he’s to afraid of me to go blabbing”

about twenty minutes later the truck came to a stop.

“you have to stay here” Paul said.

“fine” aurora answered.

“I’m not so sure you’re safe”

“I’ll be fine” Paul nodded and left the truck after arming himself with all kinds of weapons.

Karma heard foot steps. She aimed the gun at the door. The door opened. She fired. Luckily missing the person that was at the door

“jeez nervous much?” Paul asked sarcastically.

“how’s aurora?” karma asked ignoring Paul’s comment.

“she’s fine” Paul answered. “she was a bit afraid at first but now she’s doing better”

“where is she?”

“in a truck about a half a mile away”

“fine. Back to business” they tied David and his father up and took them back to the truck on the same kind of carts karma had been on just an hour before. Luckily it was night so no one was around for them to look suspicious. They got in the car. Aurora wasn’t in the front. Or the back.

“Paul you’d better not tell me you’ve lost her” karma threatened.

“fine” Paul said “I wont tell you”

“WHERE IS SHE!” karma yelled.

“I don’t know”

“FIND HER!”

aurora struggled against josh.

“LET GO OF ME” she screamed.

“I’ll let you go if karma returns what she took” josh said laughing “but not before” aurora wasn’t sure what he meant by this but she was sure it had something to do with what Paul was all of the sudden running off about.

“WHERE IS SHE!” karma yelled for about the fiftieth time. “you had better tell me this is a joke!”

“look at this” Paul said picking up a note that was on the beck of his seat. It read:

If you give back what you took

I’ll give you back the brat

If I don’t have it back in three days

“I’m going to slaughter you and then burn the remains!!!” karma screamed at the top of her lungs.

“why and how is it possible for you to have such a huge bond with this girl that you’d kill ME over it?” Paul asked.

“YOU IDIOT!” karma yelled.

“what?” Paul asked confused

“SHE’S A MADLENT!” karma screamed.

“holy fuckin shit” Paul said. “oh my god I’m so sorry I didn't know.” Paul paused “you mean Madlent as in THE Madlent”

“yes” karma said.

“but that was forever ago” Paul said “this girl cant be more than 15”

“shut the fuck up and find her!!”

“just one more thing is that why josh chose her? Would he kill her?”

“no he would beat her rape her and cause her more pain than you could imagine and then he would kill her”

“I guess I should go find her now”

“YES!”

“karma if I had known…”

“OUT!!!”

Josh took aurora back to the cage she had originally been in.

“you were gone longer than most” said the girl that had first talked to her.

“go away” aurora whispered.

“you must be really strong if you can put up with them for so long and still be here” the girl continued.

“go away” aurora repeated no longer whispering.

“what did he do?”

“who?” aurora was getting mad

“Joshua and David” the girl said this like it was the stupidest question in the world.

“nothing” aurora said.

“tell me” the girl said not believing her.

“nothing”

“why nothing?”

“karma”

“yes you did…..karma did put on a bit of a show last time you were here.”

“Paul”

“Paul? Karma’s friend?”

“yea”

“what about him?”

“karma is safe now” aurora was talking more to herself than anyone else

“huh?”

“never mind”

“how did you get away from David with barely a scratch. Well except for here” she pointed the where josh had whipped her.

“I already told you. Karma”

“huh? Whoa did you get to Seriam?”

“but karma was being hurt here”

“yea I heard about that. Serves her right though”

“karma’s not the enemy here”

“what’s you name?”

“aurora”

“full name”

“aurora Renee Madlent why?” the girl took a step back.

“that explains it holy crap I have to go” she ran back to a group of girls and the next thing aurora heard was

“NO FREAKIN WAY!” the girl that had screamed this walked up to her.

“Madlent?” she said rather coldly.

“go away” aurora said.

“do you know how to get out?” the girl’s voice turned to a whisper.

“no why would I?” aurora was mad she didn't know why but these girls some how made her blood boil.

“well you’re a Madlent aren't Madlent’s suppose to know everything about Carros?”

“no why would we?”

“well your family founded Carros. Didn't you know that?” aurora passed out but not before shouting

“WHAT!” at the top of her lungs

karma was so mad that she had started blaming herself.

“this is my fault” she had said to Paul “ I never should have trusted you. you still belong to Carros!”

“karma” Paul said. “I love you and I would never have done this.”

Aurora woke up and at first didn't remember where she was. That is before the girls started bugging her.

“you didn't know your family history?” one asked. Aurora looked at her, stood up and shouted at the top of her lungs in the meanest voice possible

“leave me alone!!” and walked to the other side of the room and sat down

“that’s the first time I’ve seen you like that Madlent” she heard some one say. She didn't have to look up to see who it was. She knew it was josh. She wished with all her might that she was wrong. She was right.

Josh took her to a room that had nothing in it but two chairs facing each other.

“sit” josh commanded. Aurora didn't move. He repeated. She still didn't move. Josh walked up to her, slapped her and then repeated the order. She obeyed and he tied her down.

“now” he said “since we’re too stupid to figure it out on our own where is Seriam?”

“how would I know” aurora said, looking away from his blazing blue-green eyes. Josh slapped her and repeated the question.

“I don’t know” aurora said

“you’ve been there where is it!” josh yelled he took out a pocket knife

“I didn't get there on my own I don’t know!” aurora pleaded. But josh didn't believe her. He sat down in the chair that was about a foot from her and reached out to grab he. He took the knife ran it across her neck. If he had pressed any harder he would have drawn blood.

“tell me” he said. He walked behind her keeping the knife on her throat.

“I’ll ask one more time” josh said. “where is Seriam”

“if she knew she would have told you by now” aurora heard some one say.

“SAMSON! What the hell are you doing here you’re suppose to be at the gate!” josh yelled

“Erick took my shift” Samson said quickly.

“oh” josh said trying to calm down.

“I just came to make sure you don’t kill the girl” Samson said

“I wont kill her…” josh said “or I’ll try not to.”

“no you wont” Samson said laughing

“if she doesn’t tell me I’ll hurt her” josh said “if she never tells me I’ll kill her”

“are you so sure you want to do that”

“duh why wouldn't I if she doesn’t speak?”

“well…um…she’s a Madlent”

“yes and?”

“she’s also a” Samson paused. “her mother was a Myantie”

“FUCK YOU HAVE TO BE JOKING!” aurora was confused

“I’ll go now”

“hold up are you sure?”

“yea”

“fine take the bitch with you” bitch? Ha that was a step up from brat aurora thought.

“yea I’m sure and do I have to take her I cant stand mixed breeds”

“funny” josh said sarcastically “now take her” Samson got aurora and turned to leave “wait does karma know this”

“doubt it” Samson answered

“why not?”

“because karma hates Myanties”

“but she loves Madlents”

“so?”

“just go” josh turned to aurora “if you tell your father anything I will kill you on the spot got that?” aurora nodded. And Samson led her out the door. He tied her hands behind her back and took her to a black truck. Before shoving her in he pressed her against the blazing hot truck and kissed her. She tried to pull away but he had his hands holding her in that position and she couldn’t move. He pulled away and opened the truck door. He took a pocketknife out of his pocket and cut the rope that was tying her hands.

“get in” he commanded. She obeyed. He did a weird thing after that. He took her wrists and tied them together with a chain that was about an inch thick and then tied the other side to the steering wheel. He shut the door and went to the other side of the car. He got in and took three shorter chains and chained her at the neck the chest and the waist. Only he chained these to the door.

“you don’t know what I’m doing do you?” Samson asked smiling. Aurora shook her head “then I’ll show you.” He turned on the car and jerked the wheel to the left. Aurora screamed in blinding pain as the chains cut into her. Samson smiled.

“just hope I don’t have to turn too much” he said winking. Samson turned the wheel back and put the car in reverse. Just pulling out of the parking lot was hell to aurora. She had never been good with pain and hated the sight of blood. She started to cry when her wrists started bleeding.

Samson either realized how badly he was hurting her or he didn't want to kill her or both. But either way when they stopped at the first light he looked up shook his head and removed the chain from her neck. Then he moved his hand down to her breasts and the light turned green. By the time they stopped there was a steady trickle of blood from her wrists even though it was only a 10-minute ride. They were about a block away from her father’s shop.

“take off your shirt” Samson ordered after unchaining her wrists.

“my wrists” aurora complained.

“worry about that later take off the freakin shirt” Samson barked. She could tell he was annoyed with her. Aurora had a hard time doing what he said because he was yet to completely unchain her and the chain on her bare skin hurt like hell. Plus it was tight and hard to get the fabric through. Her stomach was covered in sweat and blood.

“whoa” Samson said when he saw the blood. Then aurora realized he was actually looking at her breasts and it wasn’t pity that she saw in his eyes, it was lust. It took him a few seconds to remember what he was doing. He handed her some cloths and bandages telling her to patch herself up. He then gave her a long sleeved shirt even though it was 100 degrees outside.

“oh come put it on” he whispered. Why he didn't just talk was beyond aurora. “now lets go” he said finally. He unchained her and lead her forcefully out of the truck.

As soon as Samson let Aurora go she fell fast and hard to the ground. He made an attempt to catch her but failed. Aurora put her arms out to break her fall and immediately regretted it remembering her wrists. Samson helped her back to her feet but was ready to catch her again if needed.

“can you walk?” he asked. Aurora nodded and they went on. They walked about half a mile before getting to the shop.

“aurora!” mr. Madlent yelled when they arrived. Karma walked in the room and dropped the vase she had been polishing.

“Samson” she said eyes wide, shaking her head slightly.

“I’m outta here” Samson said backing away. He looked at aurora and said very coldly “Myantie” karma gasped and looked to Joseph who too had his mouth wide with shock.

“what did he mean by that?!” karma demanded.

“it’s my mother’s maiden name” aurora answered. Karma all the sudden was filled with rage and started screaming her head off about things that aurora didn’t understand.

“slow down!” aurora yelled back.

“YOU CANT BE A MADLENT AND A MYANTIE!!” karma screamed.

“yea well I’m not karma. Do you see Myantie on my birth certificate? And what does Myantie mean to you?”

“the Myanties were the founders of Carros.” Aurora gasped. Her head was on fire and her wounds hurt like hell. She couldn’t take it any more and passed out once again hitting the floor with a loud thud. Karma sighed.

“I guess I shouldn’t be so hard on her” karma said sadly

“she doesn’t know anything” Joseph Madlent said “I guess I should have told her”

“don’t beat yourself up about it” karma said trying, and failing, to comfort him.

“it’s my fault” He said “ I knew she was in danger the instant she said his name after coming home that day from the lake….I just thought if she thought I loved the guy she wouldn’t go back….I guess I was right”

“no….i told her to stay away from him” karma insisted “but it wouldn’t have made any difference” but karma realized anything she said wasn’t going to help so she stopped at that.

“she’ll be fine” karma said “I’ll get her to Seriam”
