Part of the first chapter of one of my newset stories. Hope you enjoy!
I was waiting for the final bell to ring. The damned ticking of the clock was just so tempting. I rapped my long, neon green nails along my fake wooden desk. Its rhythm fell in time with the ticks and tocks. I could hear Mai Little, the girl behind me and "Hollywood's next best actress," chewing her Trident gum. Every time that she blew a bubble, she would creep up to my shoulder, and pop it in my ear. Annoyingly, that fell in time with the clock and my finger nails. I so badly wanted to turn around and slap that narcotic bitch across the face, but I had to restrain myself. To do so, I rapped my nails harder and clutched onto my books as if I had claws.
I heard a crumbling of paper behind me and, somehow, the paper seemed to magically find my head. I bent down and picked the paper up. It had the words "Scene Girl" on it in yellow highlighter. I turned to my right, and found a group of "gangster’s" chuckling and I turned back to face the board. I opened the paper to find Hello Kitty eating me as I was crying and slitting my wrists. I pulled my long sleeves down my arms, to reveal my bare, pale wrists. There were no festered sores and no healing wounds.
"Stereotypical jerks," I called to them.
They gave me confused faces and I simply "forgot" that they didn't know a large vocabulary. Finally, the bell rang and I grabbed my crap to get out of class. On my way out, Mai nudged me on the shoulder, mumbled something that I was unable to hear, flipped her curly blond hair onto her right shoulder, and left as she laughed.
"Raven, wait up!" Hannah called after me as she sprinted down the halls with her purple hair extensions flying everywhere.
"Babe, you're going to get he shit beat out of you if you run any faster."
"But I have the best news in the world!" She anticipated as she followed me to my locker jumping like a kangaroo.
"Okay, spit," I said as my voice echoed from the inside of my locker.
"Aaron Michaels likes my hair!"
"Are you sure it wasn't a dare?"
"He never laughed."
"No way, no way!" I locked my locker and gave Hannah a giant hug as we ran out of the building. Hannah took her bag off of her shoulder and did a cartwheel on the school lawn. I ran after her and did a front handspring. We both landed on our butts laughing hysterically and rolling around. Mrs. Kirk, our Tech. Ed. teacher came out and started yelling at us, so we ran away cracking up and tripping over ourselves. We came across a lemonade stand and bought some colored bracelets along with pink lemonade. We kept those little stands in business.
"So," Hannah began, "any eye candy for my little Raven?"
"I'm afraid you've got the only good one."
"We could work out some type of custody arrangements," she teased.
"Yeah, you could get him in the day, and I could get him in the nights."
"Yeah right."
We both started laughing as Hannah threw her Dixie Cup in a stranger's garbage can.
"Which direction are you ladies going?" Steve the crossing guard asked.
"That way," Hannah directed as she pointed to the public library at the corner.
"Alrighty then...."
While we were crossing, Hannah pulled her phone from her pocket, and screamed, "Oh my, God!"
"Spaz, what's wrong?"
"Guess who sent me a message!"
"Aaron sent you a message? This calls for some major Cosmo!"
"No, Silly! Jeffree Star did!"
"Close enough," I joked.
Hannah stuck her tongue out at me as she sat on the bike racks and I dropped the books off in a box.
"Come on, Babe."
"You're not checking out books?"
"It's a Wednesday, so the library isn't open. Also, I wanted to catch up on some photography."
"Yay! I love when you're in your "photographer mood!" You always seem like a stoned hippie sitting in the jungle, staring at a flower."
"Nice way to put it."
For some reason, we both decided to begin skipping down the street, moshing, and singing Christmas songs. And old woman began to stare at us, so I growled at her.
"Raven, stop it! You know that she's just jealous because we have hot, young bodies."
"No, she's jealous that she can’t do this." I said as I shook my ass in my tutu and then spanked it. The woman walked away appalled and praying.
"You're going to give her a heart attack."
"That's because she is judging us. Staring is rude, isn't it?"
"Yeah, true."
"You know what?"
"What?"
"Kodak wishes it had sexy girls like us for its cards.
"You know it!" Hannah said as we walked off to my house.
