Distraction

PreviousNext

My distraction,

my fast reaction,

when i see you every day.

I search for mistakes,

but it brings me headaches,

cuz' i can't find any on you.

I wan't to talk to you,

but i don't think you wan't that too.

I allways suck,

when it comes to talking

and i'm allways stuck

with the same look when i walk in.

You make me weak in the knees,

and i almost freeze.

But i can't help myself...

I'm addicted to the way i feel,

when i think of you.

Hey there, Readingaddict

I just wanna start off by saying your poem is really good. It flows nicely which maybe the most important thing in a poem. You prefer a smooth road over rocky one any day.

Its a few grammer errors but hey, the sole purpose of this thing is to learn from mistakes and encourage you to make your work better. Not just make some long drawn out process of it. Learn as you go.

I give this a 9/10 to be honest. You got your point across. It waa clear and understandable. Really great work here. Great job.

First off, great poem! I loved how the sentences flowed. And the word choice was great! Pat yourself on the back for a great poem.
However, there were a lot of issues, you needed to upper case the I's, you spelt want as wan't, which I thought was wont, for a moment. And allways should have been always.
That's it though, I loved the poem, and you did a good job! I hope to see more poems from you.
As always keep writing, and happy new years!

Hello!

I may or may not be drowning in my own love poems right now, which I suppose explains why I've been reviewing them lately too. They're so fun to unpack. So let's get this review on the road!

General Comments:

1. Interesting choices on capitalization and punctuation. It's awesome that you keep really consistent with the rules you're using! As far as I can tell, you basically just only capitalize the first letter, and then use punctuation as normal.

However, given how many sentences begin with 'I', it seems to disagree a little with the lack of capitalization given on 'I's not at the beginnings of sentences. Personally, I might try to just not capitalize anything, just for the visual consistency, but it's totally up to you!

2. You've got a kind of Robert Graves "free verse" thing going on here, and I think it might help to look at that particular poem and take a few hints on how to use really short lines to your advantage, especially with how sound repetition really plays into it. Your first two lines are really good at using their length and similar sounds to create a particularly lyrical reading, but it gets a little lost later in the poem.

3. On subject matter: while I do like love poems, a lot of them can be quite similar. I like this. It's cute, and who honestly doesn't get that omg-I'm-such-a-mess-around-cute-person feeling sometimes? But do something different! Every relationship, every lovestruck moment, is unique, and you can play with that. Bring in the specifics of the surroundings, maybe particular actions, a funny/unique/playful thought maybe you had (or imagine someone might have) during or after this kind of interactions.

In general, I think this poem is maybe lacking in the wordplay/poetic device area, and I think bringing in a new and unique take on being infatuated might be your avenue to get some description and fun word usage in.

Nitpicks:

1. Again, loved the first two lines. I always like fun combinations and repetitions of sounds, and poetry is so nice because of that!

2. Check your spelling of the word 'always' maybe?

3. The second to last line is so very... modern pop love song? Which maybe that's what you want? The whole thing reads a little bit on that side, but there's just something about the word 'addiction' that brings in a dollop of pop music vibes.

Over all, I thought this was a cute, short read, and I enjoyed it! I even halfway whispered it aloud while with company (rip my reputation as a serious and pragmatic individual).

Great job, keep it up!

Thank you for the review:)
I will comply with your reccomendations for the future poems.
And about allways... I spelled it wrong like probably many other words cause i'm still learning english...:)

Yeah English is not a fun second language, but the fact that you're writing poetry with it is really impressive!

Beautiful, amazing, awesome! Three words to describe this poem, which I love!! It is so very relatable! My favorite part....All of it! I just have one tip.
"Allways" is actually spelled "Always." It's weird, I know, but that's English. You definitely have talent, keep up the amazing work!

Thank you!
But you definitly evaluated my poem...
I now know that allways is actually spelled always. I'm still learning english and i just typed it wrong...
