THE TIME IS NOW
I started walking back with him. In about 2 minutes we were back at the tower I was staying in.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” he started walking away then he turned around and demanded “Stop worrying about the silo boy.” Then he turned around, crossed a log and disappeared into a tower on the next leaf. I started walking into mine, the hole opened up and I went inside. I walked to my bed and lay down.
In about 1 minute I fell right to sleep. In my sleep I started dreaming, I was in a huge black void. With a huge creature with 4 legs like a spider, a long tail, and a t-rex like head… the gurock leader. He was in front of me and he looked hungry. I started running away, but no matter how fast I ran he was right behind me. He scooped me up with his tail and held me up to his face.
“I am closer than you think boy,” the monstrous creature shouted at me in a loud echoing voice “You cannot run or hide from me.” I was struggling to get out of his grip. He started moving his tail to his mouth; I knew he was going to eat me. Still struggling I was shouting,
“No, no, no, no!” right there I woke up sweating. I felt something wet under my covers. Please let that be sweat I thought to myself. I looked under “OH, COME ON!!” I shouted (I think you can guess what I found). I grabbed the sheets, rolled them up, and started walking to that place where you could do laundry. It was late at night and lake fog had started forming.
I started walking there I heard something that sounded like the crack of a whip. I dropped the sheets and started walking toward the sound. It took me to the far north end of the village in the water. I hid behind a building and looked. There was Gabriel barking out orders and was the one cracking the whip at the other villagers,
“Break open the silo we must have the timegate!” The villagers had pickaxes, shovels, sludge hammers, and knives. They were all picking away at the dome containing the silo. Gabriel kept barking out orders to them. After 3 minutes, they didn’t even make a scratch on the dome. Gabriel realized that they weren’t getting anywhere so he commanded,
“Since we are getting absolutely nowhere break free of your human forms!” When he said that all the villagers transformed into the gurocks. There long legs burst out of their stomachs, their arms shriveled up and fell to the ground, and screams that sounded like nails on a chalkboard could be heard for miles. It looked painful and I thought I would vomit at the sight. I looked away and a few moments later I looked back and there they were… the gurockian army.
Gabriel’s voice changed from German to the deep and dark voice I heard in my dream.
“Now my brethren break the seal!” he commanded. The creatures started biting and scratching at the dome again. I didn’t know what to believe anymore. I stuck my head out to far from the building and the gurock leader saw me. I noticed him and I quickly put my head back.
” Well, well, well it appears we have a rat in our midst.” I knew then he had seen me so I started running. I could here him close behind me with those thudding footsteps. ”So is it fear or courage that compels you fleshling?” I couldn’t see in the fog, but I could tell he was just about close to me. I looked back and could see his tail cut through the fog. Suddenly I was pulled to the side into one of the structures.
“Shhhh.” Said a voice. I could here the foot steps pass the building and slowly fade away. I was in the dark when someone turned on a light.
“Thanks.” I said.
“Your welcome.” Said a female voice. I turned around and saw Candice. ”So what do you know you can talk.” She joked.
“Ha ha,” I said sarcastically. “Well still thanks for pulling me out of the fire.”
“It’s alright, but right now we got to get out of here.” She said.
“Yeah, but how?”
“Follow me.” She said. We made our way out of the structure through the hole that formed in the wall. All the gurockians were busy trying to crack open the seal. We snuck to the place where people could do laundry. We stood in front of the only place that had a large glass door instead of a forming hole. I asked
“What are we doing here?” she replied
“For 2 reasons… 1 to get something to defend ourselves and 2 there is something I saved here for this occasion.” She started shuffling around the rows and rows of washing machines, looking inside of them and under them.
“What am I supposed to be looking for?” I questioned.
“Anything that as a high power level.”
She replied. Then I remembered what the army taught me about reading energy levels. I closed my eyes and let my instincts guide me. I lost control of my body and started walking. When I stopped and I regained control of my body my hand was on a robe that was draped over a chair. I picked up the robe and a small object fell out that was sphere shaped. I bent over and picked it up, it was made of some kind of material that was gold colored.
I put it in one of my pocket and went to find Candice. I found her at the far north end of the place.
“I didn’t find anything (deciding to keep the sphere a secret) useful,” I told her.
“Don’t worry I found what I was looking for.” She said. Then she held up a sphere object just like the one I had except it was silver.
“Come on.” she said. I followed her and she led me back to the silo. We hid behind the same structure that I hid behind when I first came.
“What are we doing here?” I asked in a hushed tone.
“We’re here to get the timegate.” She replied. The gurockians were still busy as bees trying to get the dome open.
“How?” I questioned.
“Do you have some kind of thing that can shoot?” I reached into my pocket and pulled out a small handgun.
“Will this work?” I showed her it.
“Only if you can fire it.” She replied.
“ Ignoring that, where do you want me to fire it?”
“Ummm, there.” Candice pointed to the very top point building on the next leaf. Asking no questions I pointed the pistol towards the point, cocked the gun, BAM! A bullet shot out of the barrel and hit the point. The whole thing came crashing down and caving in. all the gurocks including the father went to see what happened.
That distraction gave us a chance, we ran across a different log to the dome. Before I knew it we were in front of the yin-yang seal door. She pulled out the silver orb and put it in one of the holes of the symbol. She looked in her other pocket and she looked in shock
“It isn’t here.” She said.
“What?” I asked.
“The gold orb it’s gone and it’s the only way to get in.” Then I remembered the orb I had found. I pulled it out and showed it to her,
“Is this it?” I asked. When she saw it a smile replaced the frown she had. Without question I put it in the other hole, and out of nowhere the huge door opened up. We were both in awe and we walked through. We looked at the floor and the same symbol was on the floor. The place was totally empty,
“What now?” I asked. Candice started walking towards the far end of the dome.
“I read about precursor technology,” Candice said as she was walking to the opposite end of the dome “they cleverly hid control panels that could be activated by touch.” When she got to the far end of the structure she touched the wall and one layer made of leafs fell to the ground. Reveling a control panel with glowing buttons and lights.
“Oh, no!” she exclaimed.
“What?” I asked looking at the control panel.
“The controls got damaged when the gurocks attacked it.”
“Can you fix it?” I asked.
“Yeah, but I’m going to need some time, you go and watch the door.”
“Okay.” I replied. I went to the door and kept watch. It had been 2 minutes and Candice was still working on the panel. “How much longer” I questioned.
“I don’t know about 6 minutes why.”
“I seriously don’t think we got six minutes.” She looked out the door and saw what I meant… the gurocks were coming back. When they all looked forward they were stunned and didn’t move an inch.
“What’s the hold up?” the gurockian leader shouted from the back. He looked forward and screamed “don’t just stand there get them!” All of them started running towards the seal. I was frozen in fear I couldn’t get my body to move.
