Diary part 2

August 30th

Today in English, Mrs. Palavero announced that we shall have pen pals. And not just pen pals, but PEN PALS FROM ENGLAND! She says that she has a friend there who is willing to feed messages from her English class to ours! She gave us all their names and we had to write our first letter. Here’s mine:

Dear Chad,

Hello. My name is Elizabeth Cooper. My teacher says that you are to be my pen pal. I was wondering what kind of person you are. Do you like this idea of being pen pals with an American girl or do you dislike it?

I want to tell you something about myself, but I’m not to sure what to write. I know, why don’t I tell you what I look like? I have brown hair that is super thick and hard to do anything with. My eyes are green, my lips are red, like they’re supposed to be, and I have freckles.

Now, tell me something about you.

From,

Elizabeth Jane Cooper

You like it? I do. When I was finished, I stuck it in an envelope and put Chad’s name on it. Then, I put it in the big manila envelope that was addressed to Mrs. Palavero’s friend’s home.

Oh, I just hope we become good friends!

September 3rd

I got a reply from Chad! You want to here it? Here it is:

Dear Elizabeth Jane Cooper,

Hey! How’s it going? I’m Chad Anthony Skelton. I have brown hair and brown eyes. That’s about it for my looks.

As for England, I wish I could do fencing and archery, and ride horses and stuff. But England is a horrible place really. It's so grey, especially in London. As a kid you imagine the countryside of England to be a beautiful place full of cows and fields. But you can smell the carbon dioxide in the air. My favorite places in the world are places that have never seen a car. I would spend hours in my "secret base" in the park because I hate urban life. I wish I could live in France. If you should like any country, go to the French country side.

From,

Chad Anthony Skelton

Isn’t he cool? I immediately wrote back:

Dear Chad,

America isn’t as cool as you may think. It has it’s boring times and places. But there are other cool things, too, such as boating, horse back riding, and much more!

If I could go anywhere, I would go to the Irish country side. I love it. There must be somewhere in England that is beautiful. I mean, where else would they get all those beautiful pictures for those travel TV shows? I’m sure it’s beautiful somewhere, you just haven’t seen it yet.

From,

Elizabeth

He seems like such a nice person. I like him so much already. I can already see a great friendship starting.
