Epic ending.
My Love,
I am in no doubt that you are aware of the circumstances surrounding this delicate matter, but I am afraid that the rumors involved are deceiving and manipulative at best. Let me explain.
I am in prison now, but hopefully not for long. In recent talks with C., I have learned that it is possible for me to get off easily, simply because of the nature of the charge. Treason, as C. confided in me, is ridiculously hard to prove, especially when their facts are based on what my intentions were than off my original actions. You know me better than myself; I am not at blame, nor were my intentions ever faithless or dishonorable. C. has spoken with me on various occasions, and I am nearly certain that this case will end with a happy ending. I expect to be home within a week – two if necessary.
I do hope you will not worry though. I remember when I saw you last, you were crying. I know that this disgrace that you must bear, my love, is ever so extreme. But please be patient! I will come home soon, I promise. In the meantime, take care of Marianne.
Love always,
J.
I agree that this does seem a little stale, but that seems intentional. This would make a really great start to a story... it seems quite vague, which leaves open all kinds of delicious possiblilties. Do you have plans to continue?
It seems a little unemotional in and of itself. I never really got the feeling that he was bothered by being in prison, it just seemed like it was another every day occurance for him.
But it does seem like a good lead-in for something else. I'm hoping you plan to continue this.
It's interesting and different, but it's kind of stale.
The following sentence was awkward:
"Treason, as C. confided in me, is ridiculously hard to prove, especially when their facts are based on what my intentions were than off my original actions:"
I like it. I think it was really creative to actually make it a letter...it's cool. My favorite part was:
I do hope you will not worry though. I remember when I saw you last, you were crying. I know that this disgrace that you must bear, my love, is ever so extreme. But please be patient! I will come home soon, I promise. In the meantime, take care of Marianne.
Good job and keep up the good work!
