Cannot Fight

by Sapphire

The bulb grows ever dimmer
and the darkness hurries near.
Clouds in your vision;
whispers in your ear.
Confusion, amnesia,
shadow closes in.
Stuck in a limbo
‘til a new life begins.
Hanging on by a tack,
to stay or to go?
Your grip starts to slacken.
Who knows what’s below?
Should you hold tighter
or bid life adieu?
The choice starts to disappear -
so do you.

It’s all around you now;
you know it’s your fate.
What you know and love escapes you,
you can’t take them with you,
a new life awaits.

The darkness which haunted you
yields to a new light.
Say so long and farewell –
you are leaving tonight.

Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.
— Mark Twain
