Alone

The waves on the beach that day,
lapped ever so lightly against the coast.
The waves unfurled themselves just like the delicate curls of her tawny tresses,
and the image remains behind my eyes, a silent ghost
of the things she and I wanted,
but could never obtain.
Those things still exist,
butthey seem so plain.
What am I meant to do,
without her at my side?
Why, dearest one,
did fate make it so you lied?
Now I'm alone here,
something I never asked for,
and just as I see you,
my tears begin to pour.
My dearest beloved,
I so miss your glee.
Can't you find
your way back to me?

He began to wonder why he had felt uneasy at all. It was like a man wondering in broad daylight why a dream had appeared so terrible to him at night.
