Strive with a will

A wealth of wisdom deep as deepest sea,
Two hundred minds as fast as rain can fall,
Two hundred visions of success to be,
Who'd think these shining beacons were so cruel?
Can grapple with the highest school of thought,
Can break a new lambs spirit just as well,
Just learning to be strong as well they ought,
But teaching those they meet a taste of hell.
Their tongues are sharpened gleaming like a blade,
Honed under the guise of good debate,
Look back and see the path of tears they've laid,
The stumbling broken victims of their hate.
So strive with a will Owenians, success attend your play,
Don't let good will or kindness block your way.

I should infinitely prefer a book.
