A New Tomorrow

Today I am a blank page
Today I am an open hand
Today I am a story that's never been told
Today it's not about where I've been, it's about where I'm going
So I made a few mistakes, now is my chance to learn from them
To be smarter because of them, and more motivated despite them

Today I get to choose whether to win or lose
Whether to let the past hold me down or lift me up
To choose to use my mistakes as stepping stones. rather than
Stumbling blocks that try to trip me up
Failure isn't falling down
Failure is staying down
And now is the time for me to get back up

My flaws don't define me, and nothing is set in stone
I'm more than capable of controlling my hormones
I am young and strong with the power to fight
With the hunger to win and to live a good life
Now my vision is clarified, determination solidified
This inner voice amplified, character's more dignified

I will shatter expectations, annihilate apathy
I will overcome obstacles, and reach beyond my boundaries
I will fight for my future and chart the course of my fate
I will walk through fire and swim against the waves

No one can do this for me
I don't really want them to
Because when I reach my dreams, I'll know who's responsible
I've waited long enough to get my life right
The time is now, welcome to day 1 of the rest of my life
