City lit by fireflies
Lightning bugs of commerce
Floating along the sky line
It’s a city full of sparkling lights
That inhabits my mind most nights
It’s the backdrop of all those twinkling lights
Etched into the backs of memory
Fleeting and sweetly flying:
An intro into the operas of the mind
City lights of florescent yellow and white
Sing to me
In sleepy mantras
Entrenched in patented codex moments
Such sober beauty
Of singular moments and haunted ghosts: laughing barefoot children
Trying to catch little glow worms in glass jars
The pickle labels ripe and moldy
Peeling at the green skinned corners
City lit by fireflies
Lightning bugs of commerce
Floating along the sky line
Sing to me
Of soft casualties
The aneurysm that threatens to
Take over my brain
Is worming into my consciousness
Setting off fireworks in the dark corners
Of my concentration
City lit by fireflies
Sing
