Okay: first thing I've posted. This I wrote a while ago and I really hate the beginning. But just let me know what you think.

The Prodigal
velvet_on_a_moonlit

In the heat of the moment
This dysfunctional family
Frustrated and embarrassed
I don’t belong here
I’m in the wrong life
This is not me
I hate you
I scream
And you hate me too
For being so difficult and weird
I have to escape
So run trough the streets
I abandoned and disowned myself
Because I don’t belong
So I’ll run until I find that place
I’ll run until dawn
One detail I have overlooked
Is that the only people who will love you like family
Unconditionally
Is your family
It may not seem so
Distorted trough a lens
I remembered how I must have hurt them
With all those untrue words
Tears of guilt and love blurred my vision
As I finally realized that the only place I belonged
Was in my messed up family
When I was tired and hurt
They had bandaged up my wounds
When the monsters under my bed came to get me
They weren’t angry when I wonk them up
They said if you stay in my room
You will be all right
And weary and cold as I was
They’d love me still
Even though I’d hurt them
And caused them all those tears
So I suddenly was tired
And I dragged my feet back home
When coming round the corner
A truck driver on the phone
In my last moment I remembered
That the words I’d never tell
Were the words I needed to hear myself say
Most of all
I’ll never bandage the hurt I’ve caused
And forever my last words
I cringe at the memory
Will be remembered most of all
I never got the chance to say
That I finally realized
You are my true family
And I love you best of all
Last words on my gravestone
Last thought in your memory
The truth I never got to tell
Is the saddest tale indeed
I have been a multitude of shapes, Before I assumed a consistent form.

Sorry! Forgot to say this: I don't know how to punctuate a poem, so I didn't. Just though you guys should know the reason!

If you need to edit something into your poem, click the "edit" button and add it in, instead of double posting on your own poem. That way it all stays fair and such.

Anyway, now you know and Welcome to YWS! :)
