The individual leads in actual fact a double life, one in which he is an end to himself and another in which he is a link in a chain which he serves against his will or at least independently of his will.

I...have no idea what to say. But in a good way. This was really good. I'm going out and saying that I loved it. The imagery was excellent. And it was just put together really nice.
Great Job!

I really don't know what to say. This is really good, and really sweet, and really touching. I like this a lot... and there's nothing derogatory to say about this.
This is my favorite part:
the antiquity of your presence preserved in dust streaks and the lingering perfume you left on the door handles.
Strands of your hair still in the sink, a forgotten crust on a breakfast plate; barely enough (just enough) to piece together a memory.
I love the imagery in the third stanza, and the last two lines. I actually was thinking about the funny little memories - the ones that get sprinkled all over your house, and your schools, and your neighborhood - just a couple of days ago. So I guess you could say that I got it right away.
