A fun article wrote. Enjoy. Not supposed to be serious. Point out any grammar mistakes if I missed 'em, please?

[pre]The Rights of Muggleborns

Muggleborns are strange, undoubtedly. They are the only ones in their families who can perform spells, alone. They come to schools with little or no experience with magic. They live half lives.

However, it cannot be denied that they are magical, and it is impossible to 'steal magic' - they always have at least one relative from either parent that's been magical. It's completely genetic.

They are witches and wizards, just like any one of us. If anyone had choosen differently, I'd have to be defending the rights of purebloods, however, it's the muggleborns we have chosen to out. What right have we? What difference does it make whether someone's family is magical or not? They are not their family. They are their own persons. They can change. They can be different. Muggleborns always have, and always will deserve the same respect we get. Muggleborns are sometimes better than most sorcerers - making them more powerful, not less, and thus, perhaps, even higher than us.

The idea that family affects your status, person, and rights comes from Nazis - you know, the evil murderers.

What right do we have to be like them? Are we to sink to their level? No. We can't, and we WON'T. Nazis are NOT what we are. Muggleborns are not filth, just like the jews and gypsies and disabld people weren't filth when the nazis pounded and ground them into the ground. We cannot and will not humiliate, torture, or withhold any rights of muggleborns, because that is the way it should be. Our constitution declared that 'all are equal, none are less, and that is how it always shall be, from now henceforth'. why do those memorable, epic words not apply to muggleborns? Racism is not right. Never been.

Muggleborns deserve the same rights we have. Where do we come off thinking they're any lesser? Here's where: we don't.[/pre]

They are the only ones in their families who can perform spells, alone.

What's the alone for?

they always have at least one relative from either parent that's been magical. It's completely genetic.

When was this said?

I'd have to be defending the rights of purebloods.[s], h[/s] However, it's the muggleborns we have chosen to out.

Two sentences, please.

What right have we?

It works, but this is a completely different voice than the rest of the piece. Don't go all formal for one sentece; be consistent.

They are not their family; [s]. T[/s]they are their own persons.

Suggestion.

The idea that family affects your status, person, and rights comes from Nazis - you know, the evil murderers.

A little random, and (although I'm pretty sure everyone thinks that they are evil,) don't be so generic.

Muggleborns are not filth, just like the jews and gypsies and disabled people weren't filth when the [s]n[/s]Nazis pounded and ground them into the ground.

Typos.

We cannot and will not humiliate, torture, or withhold any rights of muggleborns, because that is the way it should be.

I know what you mean, but I think it's supposed to be 'that is not the way it should be.

Our [s]c[/s]Constitution declared that 'all are equal, none are less, and that is how it always shall be, from now henceforth.'[s].[/s] [s]w[/s]Why do those memorable, epic words not apply to muggleborns? Racism is not right. Never been.

Typos, and I think the last should be 'Never has been, never will be.'

Here's where: we don't.

Don't like this ending. Maybe leave it out? Or write it another way, but I can't think of how.

OVERALL:

I know it's just for fun, but you asked for grammar catches. It's nice, though. I wouldn't say 'we,' though. What if a 'muggleborn' read this? I know that you are implying that you are pureblood, but usually things like this say 'purebloods shouldn't...' instead of 'we shouldn't...'

Good job! Interesting point. (Maybe mention that it's about Harry Potter, though, for those slower people? And shouldn't this be in FanFiction? *Shrug* Not sure, it's kind of a mix between Fan Fiction and Non-Fiction.

I liked it. Muggleborns Protest!

Oh, what if purebloods don't know about the Nazis. Ron never heard of Cinderella or Snow White so they might not study WWII when they could study how to sit and be a couch potato when your wand does the real work :D

Perhaps "They enter magic school" instead of "They come to schools"? Because "come to schools" isn't a good phrase.

.....
they always have at least one relative from either parent that's been magical.

These two statements are slightly contradictory. You should reword the first sentence to say "immediate family" in the first sentence and something along the lines of "somewhere in their family's history" instead of "from either parent". I'm giving you some creative license on the idea that it's genetic, because I don't remember the books mentioning how Muggleborns come to be.

Archstormangel wrote:Muggleborns always have, and always will[comma] deserve the same respect we get.

Archstormangel wrote:The idea that family affects your status, person, and rights comes from Nazis - you know, the evil murderers.

Nope. It's very old, actually. It'd be better if you cited that it's older than the Dark Ages, and therefore an archaic and outdated idea. Of course, this messes with the rest of the..."article". You could say that the idea that the magical community needs to "cleanse" itself of the Muggleborns makes the believers of this idea no better than the Nazis and their belief in the Aryan race.

Overall, I liked the article. With a little work, it could look like it was published in the Editorial section of the Daily Prophet, or perhaps passed around as a pamphlet. :)

The first 'choosen' should be 'chosen'.

'jews' should be capitalized as 'Jews'. 'disabld' is spelled 'disabled'. I'm not sure, but shouldn't 'nazis' be capitalized?

That didn't make much sense to me; I had to stop and think about it.
Other than that, it's a very nice article.

Yay for Muggleborns! I'm a fan of Hermione. Haha. Well, anyways, nice piece. I think everyone else caught most of the mistakes and I would have made pretty much the same suggestions if I posted before them. There's lots of places where commas are and it needs a period instead and vice versa - be careful of that. But it's a nice little piece. I liked it - good job and keep writing!

Aw, gee, everyone has already said everything that should be said. I can't never do anything! ;)

I'm, of course, agreeing with the article of yours, or maybe I should say column. Because an article doesn't really give space for your own opinions, it's all formal (at least usually). Yeah, maybe it's more of a column. I don't know what you're keeping it.

Well, now I got off topic. There were some typos (as they're pointed out already), and at some points a little weird structure, but I think it's a nice idea. I'm sure Hermione'd like this. :)
