After about fifteen minutes, they arrived at the palace. Alghira took down his hood and knocked on the door, which opened promptly. The sultan was actually not busy for once.
"Hm? Oh, welcome back, my son! You brought a friend? Who is this?"
"Father, this is Sol. He was running away from the guards in the market, I hope it's alright that I gave him an apple, he was starving..."
"No, no, no, only an apple? Why Alghira, he is a young man! He needs a proper meal! Hm... Show him to a vacant room, he can stay as long a he needs. I will even provide a job for him if he needs one."
Alghira's eyes lit up, and a smile spread across his face.
"Really??? You'll let him stay??"
The sultan nodded.

"My child has taken a liking to you. That is an extremely rare occurrence. If Alghira enjoys your company, I'm sure I will as well. I will do anything I can to keep you around if my son likes you."
The bird that would soar above the level plain of tradition and prejudice must have strong wings. It is a sad spectacle to see the weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth. — Kate Chopin, The Awakening
