Here's another one! I hope you enjoy this one, too. Tell me how you think or if it is too short. :D

Gale's the Queen of the Hearts,
just wont fall for an old deck's card.
Mitch was the Duce of Spades,
But getting her didn't seem so hard.
She has a free soul,
impossible to control.
He was the rebel child,
Running free, running wild.

(Chorus)
They're the...
Desperadoes of the Highway.
Compass points south and they're on their way.
Heading towards Mexico,
and there they go,
Desperadoes of the Highway.

They made a Vegas stop,
They gambled till they were up on top.
Mitch said let's marry here,
Gale said, “we'll make a fine pair.
We won't remember a thing!”
They did it anyway.
Elvis preacher fixed the hitch,
He married Gale and Mitch.

(Chorus)
They're the...
Desperadoes of the Highway.
Compass points south and they're on their way.
Heading towards Mexico,
and there they go,
Desperadoes of the Highway.

There they go...
Desperadoes of the Highway...
She has a free soul,
impossible to control.
He was the rebel child,
Running free, running wild.
Desperadoes of the Highway.
Oh-oh, There they go!
Desperadoes of the Highway...
“Take one fresh and tender kiss
Add one stolen night of bliss
One girl, one boy, some grief,
some joy Memories are made of this.”
Johnny Cash

Definitely sing-able. :)

What type of music would you set it to, though? It sounds like Country, but I could be wrong.

Mitch said let's marry here,
Gale said, “we'll make a fine pair.
We won't remember a thing!”

Not very realistic--too forced. Change what she says?

All in all, it's very cute. Country isn't exactly my thing, though. ;)

PS. Also, are you sure you mean Gale? It's fine, but I've never seen Gail with that spelling.
The wittiest thing is the simple truth.

Oh yeah! I loved this - and, truth be told, I don't lurk around the lyrics section much, but the title looked kind of interesting (ALWAYS a good thing :D) and I thought I'd give it a read. I'm glad I did, since it was very entertaining - just the whole concept of 'desperados on the highway' - makes them seem kind of ridiculous and wild and cool all at once. I'm also really curious as to what tune you'd fit it to - a pity we can't hear you sing it!

Thanks for the replies! :D I set it for a southern rock, but I wasn't too sure myself. My friend said it was something the Eagles would have done.

This song was great! I don't think it was too short, I guess you could've added a bridge too make it longer, but it wouldn't be necessary. I love the way all your lyrics are so singable. It's like when you write them you know exactly how they're supposed to sound. Perfect for southern rock! :)
